Alan Immerman Obituary

Alan Michael Immerman

Phoenix - Alan Michael Immerman passed away unexpectedly on December 5th, 2020 at his home in Phoenix, Arizona at the age of 70.

Alan is survived by his wife, Teresa Immerman; his daughter, Laurel Immerman; his son-in-law, Nicholas Burchfield, his grandson Oliver Burchfield; his brother Michael Immerman and sister-in-law, Irene. He also leaves behind a large extended family of nieces and nephews and many dear friends. He is predeceased by his parents; Margery and Milton Immerman, and his son Daniel Immerman.

Alan was born in Cleveland, Ohio on May 9th, 1950 and graduated from Shaker Heights High School in 1968. He went on to study at Hillsdale College and University of Wisconsin- Madison before moving out west to Arizona where he studied Chemistry at Northern Arizona University and met his wife, Teresa Immerman (Martinez). On August 15th, 1976 they married in Flagstaff. As husband and wife, they traveled to Lombard, Illinois to finish his studies earning him a Doctorate of Chiropractic from National University of Health Sciences in 1980. On January 15th, 1985 and October 4th, 1988, he welcomed his children Daniel and Laurie, who were the lights of his life.

From 1981 to 2001, he ran and operated the Immerman Chiropractic Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona. In 1991 he founded Arizona Chiropractic Society, the largest state chiropractic association in Arizona, and ran it for almost 30 years.

Alan was a devoted husband and father and passionate about who and what he believed in. He was an avid nutritionist and enjoyed hiking, writing, and music. He was an advocate for his chiropractic profession and felt best when he was making people feel better. He taught and advocated for plant-based nutrition and therapeutic fasting decades before it became popular. His family says he created smoothies before there were such things! He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him.

Deeply spiritual, Alan's favorite and most often quote was, "Love is the law of God. You live that you may learn to love. You love that you may learn to live. No other lesson is required of man." - Mikhail Naimy
