Alan Tang Obituary

Tang, Alan
Phoenix —Alan Tang, 68, passed away June 23 2017. He leaves behind his wife of 34 years, Marilyn (Inoshita) Tang; his son, Michael (Megan) Tang; his daughter, Tracey Tang; two brothers, Norman and Roland Tang; as well as their spouses, Bonnie and Shirley. Born and raised in Phoenix, the son of Jim and Phyllis Tang, he long believed in the principles of honesty, hard work and investing for the future. Alan graduated from Sunnyslope High School in 1966. He would attend ASU and later earned a Masters in Pharmacy from the U of A in 1973. He met his wife, Marilyn, the love of his life, and they were married in 1982. Alan worked as a pharmacist for thirty-three years, and helped his brothers run a property management company. He was a member of the Screen Actors Guild, earned a black belt in Tae Kwon Do in 1998, and was one of the first Asian American stand-up comedians in the valley. He loved Christmas, the Arizona Cardinals and all things ASU, but he loved his family, his friends and his pets, cherishing these above all else. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00PM Friday July 7, 2017. A funeral service will be held at 10:00AM Saturday, July 8, 2017. Both will be conducted at Hansen Chapel, 8314 N. 7th Street, Phoenix 85020 and will be open to friends and family. Visit http://www.hansenmortuary.com for condolences.

Sorry to hear about Alan. I worked at Walgreens in the early/mid 1980s where Alan was a pharmacist. I and others were just "grunts" making minimum wage or close, but Alan was always nice to us and never looked down on us in any way.

RIP, Alan.

To Marilyn, Michael, Tracy and Family,
My sincere condolences on Alan's passing. He was a good fellow thespian and I had the pleasure of sharing the stage with him in Lane Nishikawa's GILA RIVER eighteen years ago. He will be missed by so many in the Chinese and Japanese American community for his years of service and dedication. Rest In Peace, Alan.
