Aleksandar Stevanovich Obituary
56, passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, September 3, 2015, after a long health struggle. He was born on Father's Day on June 21, 1959, in Gary, Indiana and moved to Phoenix with his family at the age of 15. A 1977 graduate of Cortez High School, Aleks subsequently joined the U.S. Air Force and proudly served for twenty years. Following his military retirement, he put his carpentry and building skills to work and used his mechanical gift fixing everything and anything with moving parts. He was proud to be a father and grandfather and loved to joke and tell stories. His laughter will never be forgotten. Aleks was preceded in death by his parents, Tihomir and Anna Stevanovich. He is survived by his children, Lora Ann Stevanovich and Maks Stevanovich, grandson Noah, siblings Milan (Kathy) Stevanovich of Valparaiso, Indiana and Zora (Dushan) Manjencich of Scottsdale, nieces and nephews and many Kumovi. Viewing will be held from 6:00-8:00pm at Hansen Mortuary, 8314 N. 7th Street, Phoenix, AZ 85020 on Wednesday, September 9, 2015, with Pomen at 7:00pm. Funeral service will be held at 10:30am on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at St. Nikolas Serbian Orthodox Church, 11640 N. 16th Place, Phoenix, 85020, followed by burial at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N.
