Allen Palmer Obituary

Allen Palmer 92, of Glendale, left us on June 13, 2008 but he will be stay in our hearts forever. Everyone who met him quickly became a friend of "Al". His infectious laugh and practical jokes, his sincere interest in people, his generosity and desire to help anyone who could use a hand, all made Al the man he was. He was a devoted husband for 70 years to Mary Ann who he met in high school and finally won over when he quit teasing her. He was the most wonderful father anyone could have and is loved so much by his daughter, Elaine Scruggs. He became a second father to his son-in-law, Larry; they spent most days together doing "guy things". He was a doting grandfather to Jennifer, who delighted him with both her antics and her achievements. Al's many nieces and nephews in New York, California, and Arizona kept in close touch with "Uncle Al". His many new friends at Thunderbird Retirement Resort brought him so much happiness in the months he lived there. Visitation will be at Chapel of the Chimes 7924 N. 59th Avenue, Glendale, on Friday, June 20 from 5-8 PM. A Funeral Mass will celebrate the goodness of his life on Saturday, June 21 at 9:30 AM at St. Thomas More, 6180 W. Utopia, Glendale. Interment will follow at Resthaven Park Cemetery, 6290 W. Northern, Glendale. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made "In remembrance of Allen Palmer" to From the Heart. All contributions made in Al's name will be matched with an additional 50% by the BHHS Legacy Foundation and given to non-profit agencies serving Glendale residents. Mail contributions in care of Quality of Life Community Services, 7206 N. 55th Avenue, Glendale AZ 85301.
