Allison Holtry Obituary

Allison Lynn Holtry passed into eternal life on November 7, 2005. Ally was born on October 14, 1971 in Munich, Germany to Preston W. and Judith L. Holtry. Growing up as an Army Brat, Ally lived in England, Kansas, and Northern Virginia prior to moving with her parents to Sierra Vista, AZ in 1985. She graduated from Buena High in 1989 and later from Cochise Community College in 1993. In 1997 she earned her Bachelor of Science in Communication degree from Arizona State University. During the course of her college years Ally worked in various retail positions in Sierra Vista, Tucson, and Phoenix; culminating in a managerial position with Neiman Marcus in 2002. She held that position until she became a pharmaceutical representative with Eli Lilly in Las Vegas, NV in 2003. In 2004 Ally returned to the Scottsdale/Phoenix area where she continued to work for Eli Lilly. Ally was a skier, enjoyed working out, and loved all animals, particularly dogs. An avid equestrian, she was devoted to her Arabian, Ray-Ray. Beloved by all who knew her, she had a wide circle of friends in each place she lived who were enriched by her generosity, her unpretentious nature, her effervescence, and perhaps most of all her bubbly, infectious laugh. This was especially true when it came to her brother's two-year-old twins, who knew her has "Auntie Ally," a name she cherished. Allison is survived by her mother and father, Judith and Preston Holtry, of Tucson; brother Lee Holtry and his wife Kelly of Scottsdale; niece and nephew Kate and Preston Holtry; and relatives in Kansas, Virginia, Ohio, and elsewhere too numerous to name. There will be a Celebration of Allison's life at Messinger Mortuary, 7601 E. Indian School Rd., Scottsdale on Wednesday, November 16 at 1:00 pm. All who loved Ally are welcome to attend. Interment will be in Colony, Kansas at a future date. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hooved Animal Humane Society of Arizona, 23010 N. 185th Ave., Surprise, AZ 85387, or a favorite charity.

I met Ally three years ago this coming January. She was a stunning site and just as beautiful inside. She was smart, entertaining and so much fun to be around. She was also very witty. Over the next few years we became best friends, for the future we planned our life togather. We are proud to have called her our friend and I am proud to have called her much more. I love you Baby.

Pres, Judy, Lee, and Kelly: It has been almost a month since Allison passed away. You all have dealt with your loss with grief, regret, sorrow, and humor. And that is as it should be. Those of us who have been close to you during this time are in awe of your capabilities to carry on the functions that you must. As I told you Pres, on our drive down from Pinetop, Allison's smile was in that magnificent sunset, and that is when I said goodby to her. Ally was an angel to me when I moved to Scottsdale and first met her. A big sister, a guide, I was in awe of her ability to tell me to be myself and not change into someone else. Karen and I are sorry to here of the loss of Allison. It was a pleasure to have been friends with her in high school. I regret that we did not keep in touch with her. As many things in life, our friendship slipped away. Looking back I have many good memories of those days. Allison was truley one of the good memories. My heart goes out to all those who had the honor of being a part of Ali's world, even for a moment of time. It seems like only a moment ago I sat with her in traffic school and then later having the luck to hire her to be one of my representatives at Eli Lilly. Most people wouldn't give anyone good odds on turning a conversation at traffic school into a job at a fortune 100 company,unless you new Ali, and than you would bet the house on the sure thing Her charisma and charm would make you agree to just about anything and be happy you did, it was useless to fight with her strong will. The pharmaceutical's we sell focus on helping those who have lost the will or energy to fight for themselves. Ali's passion for helping others made her doctors stop and listen. The result saved many people from succumbing to their demons, but isn't that just like her to put others before herself. The four words that come to mind when I think of her are beauty,passion,subtance and grace. My heart is broke for the family who I have never met, but know so well through Ali's prideful stories. Ali thank you for being a part of my life. I will think of you everyday for the rest of my life.

Ally was a jaw dropper and I always walked a little taller after I introduced her to my friends, because I knew that the first thing out of their mouth was going to be "How do you know THAT girl?"
