Ann Clare Mary Brunsman Eschinger

Toms River, NJ - Ann Clare Mary Brunsman Eschinger passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 11, 2018 in Toms River, NJ. Ann was born on March 9, 1945 in Cleveland, OH to Winifred Mary Ethelbert Constance Stryker Brunsman and Robert Brunsman. After her father passed away when she was a young girl, her mother raised her in Cincinnati, OH. Ann went on to get a bachelor of the arts in history at Edgecliffe College in Cincinnati. She moved to Washington, DC in 1967. After getting married in 1968, she and her husband bounced around the country eventually settling in Lewisburg, PA. She spent the majority of her adult life here and in Phoenix, AZ. Ann had many jobs over her lifetime but primarily worked volunteering or with local government. Her true passion however was with the League of Women Voters; upon moving to Arizona in 1993, her involvement led to becoming state president. She enjoyed working to improve local government, for clean election laws and establishing fair redistricting policies. Ann moved back to the East Coast to be closer to her children settling on the Eastern shore of Maryland for several years before moving to Toms River late in 2017.

She spent many a summer enjoying the sand and surf of Rehoboth Beach, DE, was a voracious reader and could beat anyone at Dr. Mario on Nintendo. Ann loved the Sunday New York Times, rooting for the Washington Redskins, drinking the occasional black Russian and extra hard Sudoko puzzles. Above all things though, she was a daughter, a friend, a wife and a mom. She will be missed. She is predeceased by her parents. She is survived by her son Peter J. Eschinger, his wife Lesley and their daughter Lucy Jean; her son Eric J. Eschinger, his wife Amy and their children Gabrielle and Dylan; and her ex-husband and current friend Jon E. Eschinger. A memorial service will be planned for the spring of 2018; timing and location of the same can be obtained by e-mailing ejeschinger@gmail.com. In lieu of flowers donations to the Ulman Cancer Fund (ulmanfund.org) are appreciated. Ann herself would probably like it most if you made certain to go out and vote every November.
