Ann Gouveia Obituary

Ann Marie Gouveia

Phoenix - Ann Marie (Ree) Gouveia, was born to Deacon Americo (Mac) Gouveia and Carmela Julie Gouveia in Phoenix on August 31, 1963. She died on February 5, 2018 at the age of 54 from dementia. She is survived by siblings; Joe, Lois, John, Marianne, and Linda. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Jim, and her nephew Eric. Ree was Down Syndrome and was truly special in many ways; a talented artist; she loved music, dancing, and professional wrestling. Ree had a beautiful, gentle spirit with a wide stubborn streak and an amazing sense of humor. She loved her 15 nieces and nephews and was the life of every family gathering. Ree was blessed to have the support of excellent caregivers including Hospice of the Valley and our CNA, Shelby Hoffman. She made many friends in programs at ARCH in Phoenix and Artworks in Tucson. Ree is well loved here and in heaven, she will be deeply missed. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, February 15th at 6:00 P.M. at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Rd., in Phoenix. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 16th at 10:00 A.M. to be held at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church, 5802 E. Lincoln Drive, Scottsdale. A reception at the Church will immediately follow the service from 11:00 to 1:00. Ann Marie was truly fun to be around. As a member of St Thomas Sodality, her Mom often held meetings at her beautiful homes. Always fun to attend, it was better because of Ann Marie. Love to the Gouveia family.

Sincere condolences to the family. When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure in your heart and it lives forever. May the wonderful treasures fill your hearts with love and bring you peace, Hosea 13:14.
