Barbara MacDonald Obituary

MacDonald, Barbara
69, of Carefree, Arizona passed away on January 14, 2012. At age 21, Barbara began a career as a flight attendant with American Airlines that would span 42 years. During her travels, Barbara met Robert MacDonald, an advertising executive whom she married. They later purchased what was to be a winter home in Carefree, Arizona. Eventually, they decided to part ways, and Barbara lived in Carefree year round. While playing tennis at the Carefree Inn Resort, Barbara met Richard (Dick) McCormick, an attorney who became her beloved companion for the next 26 years. Shortly after Dick passed away, Barbara was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a disease that she valiantly battled for her final six years. Barbara's incredibly kind heart will be remembered by so many of us whose lives she blessed. She had an extraordinary gift for making every person she met feel special, but it was quite obvious that she was the truly special person among us. A memorial service will take place at the Carefree Resort in Carefree, Az. on February 4, 2012 at 3:00. The ashes of Barbara MacDonald and Richard McCormick will be buried side by side in Michigan, but Barbara and Dick are surely already rejoicing together in Heaven. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Barbara MacDonald Multiple Myeloma Clinical Trials Program at ICAN, the International Cancer Advocacy Network, a nonprofit agency that tenaciously helps late-stage cancer patients access cutting- edge therapies that save or prolong their lives and enhance the quality of their lives. Donations can be made online at www.askican.org, by phone at 602-618-0183, or mailed to ICAN at 27 W. Morten Avenue Phoenix, AZ 85021-7246.
