Barbara Martiny Obituary

Martiny, Barbara K.
59, of Glendale passed away on June 7, 2012. Barbara was born on March 12, 1953, in Chicago, Ill, and in 1960, her family moved to Phoenix, where she attended Palo Verde Grade School and was Salutatorian of her 8th grade class; Cortez High School, where she was President of the Senior class; and ASU, where she graduated with High Distinction with a degree in Family Relations. She went on to become very successful in the field of early childhood development, and was the director of the Head Start Program in Williston, ND, as well as working later in the Latch and Montessori schools. Barbara was an accomplished artist, and could make any plant grow. She loved children and devoted her professional life to their development and well being. She loved to celebrate special occasions for others with parties and thoughtful gifts, and held great affection for her birds and dogs. She is survived by her parents, Robert and Katherine, whose steadfast love and support was of immeasurable value to her, by her brother Dave, by her beloved nieces, Sarah and Amanda, and by several aunts, uncles and cousins. Services will be private. Final arrangements were made by Rude Family Northwest Mortuary. Memorial gifts can be given to Hospice of the Valley.

I think about Barb often, of the many fun times we had growing up together. She was thoughtful and considerate, my best childhood friend. I continue to miss her.

Barbara was my best childhood friend growing up. We went to school at Palo Verde and Cortez together. We remained friends in college and she was my maid of honor. We literally grew up together. She had such a sweet caring heart, and was a good friend. Indeed, I miss her.

What would I like to say about Barb? A million things- but in a nutshell-she was one of the most loving, caring and fun human beings that I have ever had the pleasure of calling Friend. Her voice, her laugh and the Joy she brought to me and others will never be forgotten. I love and miss her! A TRUE Friend.

Barb was THE BEST! She was a co worker of mine in Williston at Head Start and added spark and fun to my life every single day. She was the most organized and knowledgable person I have ever met. Her bubbly personality was contagious and she would give you the shirt off her back. No one but BARB would help move me in minus 30 degree weather! I will miss hearing her voice and being in contact with her.....RIP Barb-you are loved!!!
