Brenda Felldin-Rossetti Obituary

Felldin-Rossetti, Brenda Ann,
59, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 20th surrounded by her family. For more than 17 years, Brenda fought a tireless battle with breast cancer. Brenda was the first of two daughters of Betty & Roy Felldin. She is survived by them, her sister Lorie Minshull and her nephew Cameron. She was born and raised in Akron, Ohio where she attended Firestone High and Kent State. She later transferred to Arizona State and graduated with a degree in Mass Communication. She began her career in media working at KBBC Radio and later used her entrepreneurial skills to establish her own advertising and public relations firm. The firm handled many local and several national clients. She claimed that it was the smallest national agency in the world. While running her own firm, she returned to college and obtained a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Phoenix.

It was in advertising that she met and married the love of her life, Anthony "Tony" Rossetti. She loved to plan parties and travel adventures for them and their friends. She used her media skills as a volunteer for the Phoenix Art Museum's Contemporary Forum and helped promote their various fund raising functions. She served on the communications committee for the March of Dimes and had been an active member of the Phoenix Advertising Club.

But her real efforts were placed in supporting the refugees from war torn Sudan that were recently immigrated to Arizona; they became known as the Lost Boys & Girls of Sudan. Brenda served as a volunteer and for several years was President on the Board of Directors. She helped increase the programs offered and the number of refugees receiving benefits by increasing donations and other funding sources. She obtained press coverage locally and internationally for the organization, including articles in the New York Times. When she could no longer serve actively, she continued to be a strong mentor for dozens of these men and women as they established lives and families and became American citizens. She had that rare combination of endless encouragement tempered by wise counsel. She worked hard to assist many in their dream to go back to Sudan to help their families and support their struggling country. She was wonderfully kind with a twinkle in her eye and a light but ever present sense of humor. She was an avid reader with an enormous interest in the well-being of others. No words adequately express how much we will miss her voice and smile, yet no amount of time will steal them from us. A celebration of Brenda's life will be held on Saturday, November 10th, 11:30 am, at the Franciscian Renewal Center, 5802 E. Lincoln Drive, Paradise Valley. The family asks that in lieu of flowers that a donation be made to the Lost Boys Center for Leadership Development or the American Cancer Society.

Dear Tony, Lorie, Cam, Bettie, and Roy,

It is hard to know what to say during times like these; mere words don't express what one feels. My memories of a healthy and vibrant Brenda will be what lives on. She had a wonderfully mischievous nature that - when combined with her intelligence and warmth - made life so rich for the rest of us.

Tony, Lori, Betty & Roy, I am very sad that this has finally come to pass and so sorry for your loss and pain. I will miss her so much for the rest of my life but am so very grateful for having had Brenda's friendship and so many good times together for these past 35 years. As the card she once sent me says "Good friends are like stars. You don't always see them but you know they're always there..." Bren, I know you are there and your love for all of us is forever.

It seemed like Brenda just kept surviving this battle for so long that I thought she would just keep going. It's amazing she was so strong to have even stayed with us for all these years. I can still hear her laugh and remember her humor - she is unforgetable.

Tony,

My only contact with your lovely Brenda was over the phone and always about "business" or she was trying to track you down! (you had your phone forwarded to the office)
Her warmth and kindness was evident in how she spoke and interacted with me. I only saw Brenda in passing a couple of times at 3120. I was not even aware that it was Brenda until she had left and I regret not knowing that that was indeed, "Brenda, Tony's wife" as told by one of the women at the office and this after she had left. I can tell you that she left that same positive feeling in the office, albeit brief. She certainly had a definite "presence" that was palpable. I remember thinking to myself, "who was that graceful and elegant woman?". I was not at all surprised when I did find out. My condolences to you Tony - and may Brenda rest in peace.

Though our relationship with Brenda was at first as business associates, we quickly grew to love and respect her for her honesty, integrity, and wonderful sense of humor. In fact, Brenda's robust laugh was a treat in itself to listen to. And, over the years, we became friends, staying connected even after retiring and moving 1200 miles away to Oregon. She will be sincerely missed.

Dear Brenda, I will always remember you. At the rising of the sun and as its going down, I will remember you.
At the blowing of the wind and the chill of winter, I will remember you. At the opening of the buds and in the rebirth of spring, I will remember you.
At the blueness of the skies and in the warmth of summer, I will remember you. At the rustling of the leaves and in the beauty of autumn, I will remember you.
At the beginning of the year and when it ends, I will remember you. When I am weary and in need of strength, I will remember you.
When I have joy I crave to share, I will remember you. As long as I live, so will you live; for you are now a part of me, as I will remember you.

To my dear friend Tony,

Kay and I shared such a short amount of time with Brenda due to us living so far away, yet in that short amount of time, we recognized what a remarkable and accomplished woman that she was in so many ways. We admired her passion for life and her inner and outer beauty. We will always cherish those short times we had with you two. You are in our thoughts today......

Fondly,
Tom and Kay Hervey
