Phoenix - Cecil Augustus "C.A." Edwards, Jr. was born in Phoenix, Arizona 89 years ago and died February 3, 2021. He attended Kenilworth Elementary School and North High School in Phoenix before entering the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland. Upon graduation from the Academy, he was commissioned into the United States Marine Corps and served abroad, flying fighter jets from aircraft carriers. After leaving the service he attended the University of Texas School of Law and graduated, at which point he returned to Phoenix for good. He practiced law in Arizona for over 50 years, primarily representing injured workers with claims before the Industrial Commission. He married Nancy Joan Vogler in 1964 and had two sons, Matthew M. "Matt" Edwards and James C. "Jim" Edwards. Over the years he enjoyed many activities with his family: soccer tournaments; travel to Europe and Central America; hiking North Mountain, Havasu, Shaw Butte and The Grand Canyon; eating Baskin Robbins Pralines 'N Cream; camping throughout the Southwest; cruising in his wife's Ford Model A; visits to Encanto Park and Kiddieland; playing craps in Las Vegas and Laughlin; participating in cowboy action shooting with the Single Action Shooting Society; and laughing. He was predeceased by his son, Jim; his brother, James Miles Edwards; and his parents. He leaves behind many friends and colleagues and the loves of his life: his wife Nancy; his son, Matt, and daughter-in-law Sheena; three grandchildren, Emily, Lizzie, and Vince; and his Chiweenie, Chico. His family wishes to thank all of his health care providers, including James Doris, M.D. and Hospice of the Valley (1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix 85014) for their wonderful and kind treatment during C.A.'s final days. There will be no services held at this time. Please visit hansenmortuary.com for online condolences.
