Charles Evans Obituary

Dr. Charles Edward Evans

Phoenix - On Thursday, January 10, 2019, Dr. Charles Evans, loving husband, father and grandfather passed away at the age of 79, just shy of his 80th birthday.

Chuck was born in Omaha, Nebraska on January 15, 1939 where he grew up and attended the University of Nebraska for both undergraduate and medical school. Chuck served as a captain in the Air Force before going on to practice Pathology at St Joseph Hospital until his retirement. At the age of 16, he met the love of his life, Jeanne and they spent the next 63 years together raising four children and enjoying the Arizona sunshine. His fondest memories and greatest moments usually included his family, friends and a golf course. Chuck was a fixture on the golf course at Mountain Shadows Country Club and Pinewood Country Club. He loved football and cheering on his alma mater the Nebraska Cornhuskers while enjoying a Miller Lite. Jeanne and Chuck moved to The Terraces in Phoenix, Arizona to fully embrace the retired lifestyle. He had a large personality and was loved by all that knew him.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents Catherine and Glenn Evans. He is survived and missed by his wife Jeanne; his 3 sons, Tim (Jody), Mike (Kelli) and Steve (Chris); his daughter Susan (Terrence); his nephew David (Jennifer) and niece Amy; and his beloved dog Bear. He leaves a legacy of 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor at a later date. To honor his memory, please make any donations to the Polycystic Kidney Foundation (www.pkdcure.com) or the Arizona Animal Welfare League (www.AAWL.com).

I am sorry for the loss of this gentle man. I feel lucky to have known him through work and social events. I loved when something amused him and he gave that smile.

My heart goes out to the entire family.
Jeanne, sending you a big hug. You and Chuck were perfect together.

I am saddened to hear of Chris Charles' great uncle and namesake's passing. Chuck was a rock for his family, and had a no nonsense yet very loving demeanor. His love and dedication to Jeanne was one I hoped to achieve someday. I always knew family meant everything to him. My heart goes out to Jeanne, Tim, Steve, Mike, and Susan. David and Amy as well. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

I am very proud my son bears his name. I have many wonderful memories of time spent with Chuck and the Evans clan. Love to you all - Betsey Griffin
