Happy birthday, Chess. This year would be so great to talk to you because the Yankees seem to have a worthy team again ... although Hal Steinbrenner already is threatening to cut payroll next year. Just want you to know, I miss you every day. No day goes by without you in my thoughts.

Hi Little brother. I'm still missing you and think of you often. It's been another year to let you know your legacy lives on in me. How I wish we could go back and have those precious times together. I even tear up as I write this. You are in good hands in heaven. Give dad a hug for me and we'll see you again one day.

It's been another year and I still think about you and still get misty eyed. I cherished all the good times we had growing up and we had a heck of a lot of them. I always looked up to you - my little brother who always seemed to come out on top of whatever you tackled. You left us way too early. Love always, Steve

Too my little brother. I miss you deeply and think of you daily. We never really had much but we had each other. Though you are gone, the memories will always be with me. I'm sure you and dad are enjoying the jam sessions in heaven. We miss you very much.
Steve

Wow, what a shock when I opened the newspaper on Tuesday. I am so deeply saddened by this loss. Chess was a great friend to me during grade school and high school. He was always lots of fun, positive, creative, possessed leadership qualities, and was an all around nice guy. He was someone destined to achieve great things - and he did.
My sincere sympathy to each family member.

I've known the Trethewy family for years - went to high school with Judy, Bruce and Becky. Lost touch years ago and am so sad to see this about Chess. My thoughts and prayers are with the Trethewy family.

To the Family,
You are in our prayers and thoughts. The memories of Chess' life will remain with you always, during the times of sorrow think of what Chess would want you to say or do to remember him. God Bless You All.

This saddens me deeply. My heart goes out to the family. Chess was truly one of the good guys. I was able to reconnect with him at our 30 year reunion in Phoenix (Bud Brown's Barn of course!) and it rekindled my respect and admiration for him. He was an officer in student council most years at SSHS but never part of a "Click" and always had a kind word and an upbeat pleasant attitude. He will be deeply missed.
