Christine Yacullo Obituary

Christine Ann (Metzger) Yacullo

- - Christine Ann Yacullo, age 45, passed away in the arms of her parents, Michael C. and Constance L. Metzger, on the 5th of January after a four year fight against the ravages of stage IV breast cancer. She was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents and Uncle Martin Metzger. She is survived by her two beautiful daughters, Morgan age 15 and Tatum age 11; her sister Catherine and Dr James Cooper; nieces Kendall and Madison Cooper; Nephew Chase Cooper; Uncles Donald and his wife, Carolyn Metzger, Thomas Metzger, Ronald Mills, Brad McKenna; Aunts Mary Ellen Doyle, Barbara Metzger, Lorelei Metzger, Patti Sue Metzger, Charlene Early, Sandy Gaily and cousins to numerous to mention.

Christine was born on February 28, 1972 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix. She graduated from Lookout Mountain Grammar school, Thunderbird HS and after a year at the school down south she finished her collegiate studies at Arizona State University, graduating with honors. She worked as a HR manager before her marriage to Victor Yacullo. She chose to make her career one of being a stay at home mom.

Victor saw opportunity in Southern California and they moved to Carlsbad. Regrettably, the marriage ended in divorce after 10+ years. After the divorce they lived close to one another and their children were well cared for by both Chris and Vic.

Christine was a beautiful 6' tall woman that was of sharp intellect and had a quick wit. She could light up a room like few others. Her friends speak of her incredible generosity, deep friendships, ready smile and compassion. Those were her trademarks even through her arduous battle with cancer. More often than not she would not reveal the true extent of the suffering, all the while, trying to help and comfort her friends with their issues.

We, Mike and Connie, thank the caregivers and staff at Sharp Memorial Hospital and Northern San Diego Hospice for their kindness and care given to our daughter. We also extend our gratitude to Christine's many friends in both Phoenix and Carlsbad that were truly inspirational throughout her sickness in offering support in many different ways. Additionally, her former husband Victor, stood tall during her ordeal in helping Christine whenever needed. We are fortunate that our granddaughter's care and well being are in his hands.

There will be a Remembrance on February 2 from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM at the Cape Rey Carlsbad, a Hilton Resort, at 1 Ponto Road, Carlsbad, California

In lieu of flowers or donations we ask that whatever you were to donate that you instead, give it to the next person that might be in need, saying "this is from Christine". Christine would love that gesture. Finally, we leave you with our most sincere hope that your children and grandchildren outlive you.
