Christopher Rainer Obituary
Phoenix, AZ. Chris was born Nov. 1, 1980 to Donald and Barbara Rainer in Phoenix. He is survived by his loving wife, Janel; his adored daughter, Madyson "Maddy" Rainer; his devoted parents Donald and Barbara Rainer and his brothers Jason K. and Travis M. Rainer. Visitation will be Wed., Oct. 31, 2007 at 10:00 to 11:00am at Shadow Rock Congregational Church, 12861 N. 8th Ave., Phoenix, AZ. with funeral services at 11:00am. Burial will be at Phoenix Memorial Park, 200 W. Beardsley Rd., Phoenix, AZ. Memorial contributions may be given to the Christopher Rainer Memorial Fund at Desert Schools Federal Credit Union. The Rainer family is proudly being served by Phoenix Memorial Mortuary.

i attended elementary and high school with chris. we endured many an AP class together. even though i hadn't seen him in nearly 10 years, i know everything they wrote about him was true. he was a nice guy. it's certainly a loss for the world. all the best to his family.

Janel and Maddy - My husband and I enjoyed getting to know you all on the Mesquite Band Hawaii trip last November. Our son, Christian "Chris" Lopez was deeply influenced by your Chris, who could encourage any student to develop beyond what anyone expected. I wonder if our son would have done so well at All-State without the encouragement of people like Chris Rainer and Ron Andre. Chris Rainer will always be remembered by us and especially by our son as a tremendous role-model. We will continue to pray for strength and healing for you and all the loved ones left on this earth. For those who have trusted Christ have this promise - "For we know that if the tent, which is our earthly home, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens." 2Corinthians 5:1

Janel & Maddy:
I want to share a memory with both of you. My daughter, Ariane, is a student at Mesquite High and was enrolled in band for her Freshman and Sophomore years. She was one of Chris's "difficult" students and might have actually been the proverbial "thorn in his side". But,this made their teacher/student relationship special because Chris (and Mr. Andre)would always tease her about it. Ariane was not a "gifted" band student, but, Chris would always encourage her to practice and to do better. She gave up band for her Junior year, but, would still occassionally see Chris and Mr. Andre around campus. They would always wave to her and smile (probably because they were happy she was no longer in band, hahaha!). She told me she saw them not two days before Chris's untimely passing, when they walked past her in one of the halls at school and Chris said, so she could hear, "she was the worst student I ever had",and then laugh. Of course she scowled at him in pretend disapproval and he laughed more. Ariane said that "Mr. Rainer was a great teacher, always kind, and that she will miss him". God bless both of you at this difficult time.

It is hard to understand Gods intent to take a young life from us. Someone once said that He needed another angel. Chris is now with God and making music in heaven. It will take alot of time to heal the broken heart and we may never totally understand. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Rainer Family
My daughter is a student at Mesquite. She is a Freshman and was very unsure of being in the Marching Band. Chris Rainer took her aside and worked with her. He always made her feel special and inspired her to keep going and no matter what comes along....always keep your head high. We all feel a significant loss and hope that you will find comfort in the fact that his inspiration and kind words will live on forever in every life that he touched. I didn't really get a chance to speak to him much...but whenever I attended a game...I watched him sit in every section of the band just to see how everyone was doing. I watched him console students who might have messed up in the show or made other students laugh with his wit and humor. My daughter was upset because she had just had her tonsils out and couldn't play at the homecoming game. Chris came and sat down next to her and made her smile and told her that she was still part of the band and that he appreciated her being there to support the band even though she couldn't play. I watched her tears turn to a smile in an instant. He was truly a wonderful person and will be terribly missed. Rest in Peace Chris!

Rainer & Bullis Family,
Two loving families affected by the tragic loss of Chris. There is nothing anyone can say or do to take this pain away. But as someone stated before, Chris is in a FAR better place....Janel and I became very close friends while we worked together many years ago. During this time I got to know Chris. He accepted me for who I was, even though he would say that Janel and I were a little crazy at times. I thank God for placing him and Janel in my life. I would also like to thank God for placing him in Janel's life as I know how much she loved him and how much he loved her. I know how much their beautiful daughter is loved by both families. Please know I am here for you Janel, just as you were for me. You taught me what a true friend is.

My heart goes out to you and your family for your loss. Chris was a student of mine at Deer Valley High School in my AP Government class. I remember him as a smiling person, who did outstanding work, and made you glad to be around him. His enthusiasm for everything he did was contagious. My daughters are members of the Mesquite High band program and I know that Mr Rainer meant more to them than words can express. They, and all the students, have been so fortunate to have spent time with Mr Rainer and to have learned music and so much more from him. Our prayers and thoughts are with you. Dear Rainer Family,
I never had the opportunity to speak with Chris but my son, Ryan, is in the Mesquite Band. I can see by the way Ryan and all of the band members are effected that Chris Rainer had a tremendous impact on their lives. Few people have the dynamic and positive impact in our lives to help make us the best people we can be. I believe that Chris Rainer was one of those people. He will be remembered for his leadership, kindness and the love of music he helped to install in all that were blessed to know him.

Chris touched so many hearts. He always had a smile to share and something funny to tell. He was truly a blessing from God. He loved his family and he loved his music. All my memories of Chris involve music and family. The kids would cling to him like a walking tree. He never seemed to mind. He loved children and they loved him.

When I was at Mesquite High, I always mistook Chris for a student. I remember his happy smile and his energy as he ran through the office. He was always polite and kind to the staff. My thoughts and prayers are with his young family.
