Corey Hahn Obituary

Corey Hahn

Scottsdale - Albert William Hahn III, 61, known to his friends and family as Corey, passed away on the morning of November 8, 2018, after battling congestive heart failure. Corey slipped the bonds of life surrounded by loved ones at HonorHealth Scottsdale Shea Medical Center. Despite the apparent finality of his hospitalization, Corey was eager to lift spirits and drive sorrow from his room.

Corey, the oldest child of Albert & Gwen Hahn, was born in Phoenix and was a towering figure in both stature and spirit. From his father, he inherited not just a name, but a profound strength, boisterous laugh, and culinary ability. As his father's health began to fade, Corey generously served as a supportive caregiver for several years helping his mother improve his father's quality of life. When his father passed away, Corey served his famous chili and guacamole at family gatherings, ensuring everybody was full and all plates were cleaned by the end of the meal. From his mother, Corey was gifted the innate ability to connect with people, and a strong devotion to friends and family. These traits followed him in his three-decade long career at the family residential construction business, COHACO Building Specialties, where he played an instrumental role in the business's success. Most recently, Corey found a home in the grocery industry, which gave him the ability to connect with customers and coworkers every day. In his spare time, Corey nurtured a love for music and radio-controlled cars. He happily entertained his grandkids by setting up intricate race tracks and deftly maneuvering his RC cars through them. It was a unique passion that exemplified Corey's lighthearted and youthful spirit.

Corey is survived by his mother Gwen, siblings Casey, (Bert) and Chris, (Miriam), his former wife Grace, daughter Rachael, (Keith), and two grandchildren, all of whom were afforded the chance to say goodbye, exchange affirmations of love, and offer a final embrace of a man whose presence seemed larger than life. Corey bravely confronted mortality in his final moments by assuring his loved ones that he was ready for this transition from life as we know it on Earth, but only after enjoying one more Coke.

Of no doubt, his presence will be missed by all those who knew him. A private family celebration of life is planned. Share memories at https://www.legacy.com/obituaries/local/arizona

The Hahn's lived behind me when I was young, and we attended Paradise Valley High School together. I was closer to Chris but had many wonderful times with Corey. I will always remember him as a fun-loving guy who enjoyed his rock and roll and life in general. My sincerest condolences to Gwen, Chris and Casey. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.

I was a classmate of Corey. I remember him well as the young man who drove a Charger and everyone liked. I remember thinking he was going to do well in life...I was right!
My condolences to his family and all whose lives he touched.
