Daniel William "Dano" Latecki

Daniel Latecki Obituary

Daniel "Dano" William Latecki, age 54, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2006 at his home in Phoenix, Arizona. He was diagnosed with lung cancer earlier this year but continued enjoying life and his family right up until Monday. Dan was born in Norridge, Illinois on September 26, 1951 to Ed and Phyllis Latecki. He grew up in this area, enjoying football and hockey--leaving a few teeth behind in the process. He was a fun-loving, tough kid, who enjoyed working the trades with his dad and developed skills that would stay with him for a lifetime. He moved to Arizona in the early 1970's, studied art at Triton College and continued working in the trades. He was a master craftsman, artist, and joker!!! But, he was serious about family and friends—and he had many friends. He is survived by his mom, Phyllis, beloved son, Wes (wife, Jennifer), as well as his beloved sisters, Diane (husband, Gaston), and Debra (husband, Michael), aunts, uncles and many cousins. He was a great dad, brother, son and friend. He loved his family and friends and could be counted on to be joking with them all. He loved fishing and checking the fishing reports for Bartlett Lake-- he had the lake report programmed into his phone!! He was also very proud of his yo-yo collection (and is even in the Yo-Yo Museum in Tucson!!). He loved watching westerns—and it was fitting his favorite movie would be a place in Arizona --- "Tombstone". And don't worry Dad, "I'll feed Jake!" Rest in Peace… Dano has gone fishing!!! Dan's life will be celebrated in a service at 11:00a.m. on Saturday, August 5, 2006 at Holy Redeemer Cemetery, 23015 N. Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, Arizona, 85024, tel. 480-513-3243 (feel free to bring your yo-yo!).

I found this quote and so far it's the best way I've found to acknowledge all the love and happiness Danny brought to the people he loved in this world

"An important purpose for mortality is to help us learn to recognize and to choose the positive even though the negative more fully surrounds us. We make this choice consciously or unconsciously in every moment of the day, and these millions of tiny choices create the foundation of our identity. We are what we think. We are what we say, what we do, what we fill our lives with. Ultimately, every being creates himself by these countless, crucial choices."

I have been here several times only to log out, not knowing what to say that would make a difference in any way. I am back again to say to Phyllis,Diane,Deborah and Wes that you have my love, support and prayers. I know how much you miss Dan and how much you love him. Saturday was an AMAZING Honor of his life and I will always remember it. I know that Dan loves you all and I do too. I miss him and yet I believe in Eternal LIFE...I really believe that he is now Knowing what we HERE all just have to wonder about-and we WILL see him again. What will that be like? Dan will fill us in when we get there. For now he is in our hearts. Let's keep our hearts filled to the brim with love...and I send some of my love to you all while you may be needing a bit extra.

We'll miss getting to see you and have you tease Cindy -- she needed it!! You'll always be a part of us--through your work that made our home so beautiful. We think of you often.

So tough not to get to say goodbye, but maybe tougher still to have had to. . .at least you left us laughing at all the fun stuff you filled our lives with. . .we'll miss you too, Dan.

Yo Dano!

I'm missing you so much already. I can't belive we're not going to get the chance to work together on projects. But, you will be my inspiration for the kitchen remodel. Thanks for showing me the correct way to trim with the "Big Boy Brush" and always looking out for me...you were my Handsome "big" brother that I'm so proud to have in my life!

Loving you always,

Hugs, Deba
