passed away on April 12, 2013. It is cliche to call Dave Conz a Renaissance Man, but Dave was never one to care about such trivialities. He lived what he taught. He embodied the interdisciplinary studies program he belonged to, often blurring the lines between science and art through his many passions. He was a sociologist by training, but a mad scientist in life. Nothing escaped his interest. The cultural and chemical importance of beer was as important to him as his research in bio-diesel and alternative fuels. He was an engineer, unhindered by man-made boundaries. Dave, the artist, was freed through his drumming, his poetry, his distinguished facial hair, and his love of swing dancing. His attitude and smile were contagiously positive. He is survived by his mother and sister in Pennsylvania, hundreds of friends across the country and around the world, and the thousands of students whose lives he enriched with his sometimes eccentric lessons but clear love of life. Dave Conz, your memory will be cherished and honored by those who had the pleasure of being a part of your life.
