85 of Mesa, AZ, passed away on June 11, 2017. He was born on November 16, 1931 to the late Herbert and Hilda Beames in Brighton, England. He left his childhood home in his teens to join the merchant marine, spent his youth cruising the world and once served on the famous ocean liner the Queen Mary. On one such cruise he met his future wife Anna Ciano of Brooklyn, NY. They were married and welcomed their first child Laura a year later. A son David and another daughter Michelle would soon follow. David became a licensed hairdresser and salon owner in NY before moving his family to AZ in 1978. There he turned his attention to carpentry and specialized in building redwood decks and boat docks at the Lakes in Tempe, Scottsdale Ranch and other lakefront communities in the Valley until his retirement. When Ann passed away in 1983, he rose to the challenge of raising his two youngest children alone. He always put the well-being of his family above his own and sacrificed to provide them with a safe and happy childhood. He met his last love, Lorana Bleak in 1990 and remained devoted to her for the rest of his life. He enjoyed Frank Sinatra, Woody Allen films, traveling and a good glass of wine. He will be remembered for perpetually humming "strangers in the Night", his quick wit and deep devotion to friends and family. He is survived by his partner of 27 years, Lorana Bleak of Mesa, AZ, three adult children Laura (James) Hanebury of Manahawkin, NJ, David (Evelyn) Beames of Cape Coral, FL and Michelle (Edward) Beames of Bournemouth, UK and grandchildren, John, Zachary, Riley and Samantha. A private memorial will be held in New Jersey. In lieu of flowers, contributions in David's honor may be made to a favorite charity.
