David had a wicked sense of humor. He played in the band at Murrray School (Jr Hi) under the direction of Alberta Kline, before playing for me at Burroughs HS. The Murray Band was going to a Music Festival in Bakersfield, some 2 hours away. Alberta wanted to be sure the band room was secure so she sent David back to check the door. While he was doing that, Alberta left with the bus! No David! Never daunted, when the bus came back AFTER the festival, David was sitting in the parking lot on his instrumental case, looking very dejected. I do not know what Alberta said, but I would guess that it was a huge apology. I'm sure David took it in stride. - Russell Parker, Burroughs HS Band Director.

I happened across David's name in a list of students from Burroughs High School who had passed. I wrote to Mary and was stunned to discover the list was true.
David was one of my students at BHS in the 1970's. We got on well and he had a wonderful sense of humor. He played a pretty fair Alto Sax too. One of David's teachers in Jr Hi, (Murray School) was Alberta Kline. As the band was preparing to leave one morning to drive to Bakersfield for a Festival, she sent David back to check that the bandroom door was locked. While David was doing that, the bus drove away! She did not realize she had left him until 2 hours later.
True to David's sense of humor, he was sitting on his Sax case, in the parking lot, on a Saturday, when the bus came home that evening, as if he had been sitting there all day. He hadn't but it sure looked like it.
I will regret forever that I never drove from Prescott to Chandler to visit him. He was gone before I knew he was ill.
I'm so sorry Mary. I will find a way to get a picture for the luminarias at the Relay for life tomorrow, June 7, 2013, in his memory.

Hello Mary,
I am so sorry for your loss. I worked with and for David during the late 1980's at Intel and he was without a doubt one of the finest & most respected individuals I ever knew in my 11 years at Intel. My thoughts & prayers are with you and the family.

I have known David and Mary for 18 years. Never have I encountered a couple more in love and devoted to each other. They were always gracious to friends and never knew a stranger. David was an optimist, his glass was always half full. He kept everyone laughing with his quick wit and wicked sense of humor. He faced his illness with courage and humor and I never heard him complain about his circumstances. He was a great man and I will miss him.

We were very lucky to have shared in just a slice of his life. The memory of his wonderful sense of humor will bring back many smiles.

We met David and his family through Aubrie (Thames) Krausman. Whenever we saw David he had a smile on his face. We feel honored to have met David. He will me missed!
