Gabriel Medrano Obituary
A beloved brother, uncle, godfather and friend of many passed away peacefully on May 7, 2011. He was born on August 24, 1933 in Los Angeles, CA to Rosa Yrales and Isidro Medrano (both deceased). He graduated in 1952 from Phoenix Union High School and soon after he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served four years during the Korean War. In 1958, he was hired by the United States Postal Service. After providing 33 years of work and dedication, he retired in 1990. In 1960, he graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelors of Education. Gabriel is survived by his sisters; Irene Aguilar, Rosa Favela, Ramona Mendoza, brothers; Richard Medrano, Adolfe Medrano, Bob Cuellar, Richard Cuellar, Andres Cuellar, Jess Cuellar, many nieces, nephews and godchildren who he loved very much. Your silent strength and everlasting support will be missed. You were always there for us when we needed you. We love and miss you so very much "Brother, Uncle, Godfather, and Friend." Mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 3, 2011 at 9 a.m. at St Agnes Catholic Church 1954 N. 24th Street, Phoenix, AZ. Burial services will follow at 10:30 a.m. at National Cemetery of Arizona 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd, Phoenix, AZ. The family requests in lieu of flowers a donation be made to Hospice of Arizona 19820 N. 7th Ave. Suite 130, Phoenix, AZ. Arrangements by Samaritan Funeral Home.

He was a kind and loving man and he will be missed dearly. There is a quote that I think of when I think of Gabriel, "Try not to become a man of riches but rather become a man rich with Family, Friends and Integrity." Gabriel was a man rich in all three. I’m sure if we could see him now he would be looking down on us. . . with a smile.
