REMEMBERING THE FIRST TIME I MET GLENN HE WAS DOING SURVEY WORK WITH FAMILY FRIEND ROGER. I HAD COOKED UP A BIG BATCH OF WALLEYE AND WE SAT OUT ON THE FRONT PORCH EATING THE FISH FOR MY HUSBAND WASNT HOME FROM WORK YET, AND GLENN BEING THE PROPER GENTLEMAN, WOULDN'T ENTER OUR HOME TILL HE ARRIVED. I CAN STILL SEE HIM SITTING IN THE SUN, SWEATIN' AND EATIN' THAT WALLEYE. HAHAHA. HE BECAME A VERY DEAR FRIEND TO BOTH MY HUSBAND AND MYSELF, AS WELL AS OUR DOG HERCULES. GLENN TRULY HAD A SENCE OF PEACE ABOUT HIM AND IN HIS FAMILY'S TRAGIC LOSS, IT IS MY HOPE THAT THEY FIND SOME COMFORT IN KNOWING THAT HE WAS A GOOD MAN AND KIND SOUL AND WE SHARE YOUR LOSS, GOD BLESS, AND WE WILL SEE YOU AGAIN, GLENN MCBRIDE. WITH HIGHEST REGUARD AND DEEPEST SYMPATHY,

Thank you for putting the lyrics to "Go Rest High On That Mountain" written by Vince Gill and sung so well by him.
It was one of Glenn's favorite songs, he really loved the bluegrass version Vince Gill sang. It really is fitting for Glenn.
He is resting high on that mountain... with the Father and Son. Check it out on U Tube.

I know your life
On earth was troubled
And only you could know the pain
You weren't afraid to face the devil
You were no stranger to the rain

Go rest high on that mountain
Son, you work on earth is done
Go to heaven a shoutin'
Love for the Father and Son

Oh, how we cried the day you left us
We gathered round your grave to grieve
I wish I could see the angels faces
When they hear your sweet voice sing

Go rest high on that mountain
Son, you work on earth is done
Go to heaven a shoutin'
Love for the Father and Son

Missing You

No words I write can ever say
How much I miss you every day.
As time goes by, the loneliness grows;
How I miss you, nobody knows!
I think of you in silence,
I often speak your name,
But all I have are memories
And photos in a frame.
No one knows my sorrow,
No one sees me weep,
But the love I have for you
Is in my heart to keep.
I've never stopped loving you
I'm sure I never will;
Deep inside my heart,
You are with me still.
Heartaches in this world are many
But mine is worse than any.
My heart still aches as I whisper low,
"I need you and I miss you so."
The things we feel so deeply
Are often the hardest to say,
But I just can't keep quiet any more,
So I'll tell you anyway.
There is a place in my heart
That no one else can fill;
I love you so, Dad,
And I always will.

COME WITH ME

The Lord saw you getting tired
And a cure was not to be,
So He put his arms aroud you
And whispered, "Come with me."

With tearful eyes, we watched you suffer
And saw you fade away,
Although we loved you dearly,
We could not make you stay.

A golden heart stopped beating,
A beautiful smile at rest,
God broke our hearts to prove
He only takes the best.

It's lonesome here without you
We miss you so each day,
Our lives aren't the same
Since you went away.

When days are sad and lonely,
And everything goes wrong,
We seem to hear you whisper,
"Cheer up and carry on."

Each time we see your picture,
You seem to smile and say,
"Don't cry, I'm in God's keeping,
We'll meet again someday."

TO the family of Glenn, I knew him for many years he was a good friend. Always had a good word for everyone, even if someone wronged him, he was so forgiving and full of love.
His boys meant the world to him, Iam not sure if they knew how much he respected them and loved them. The last time I spoke to Glenn he said how proud he was of his boys and thrilled that he had a granddaughter, he showed her picture to everyone he was so happy and looking foreword to being
with all of them. He had lost his mom and dad 6 months apart, and say as much as Iam going to miss them it's so good to know I have my boys and family he deeply loved his family and friends. What a optimistic person he was.
Everyone that really knew him loved him, including me.

Glenn you never knew this but as a teenager I was deeply in love with you. If only I wouldn't of been so shy, your smile melted me. Know life has went on and I never got to tell you how I felt, and we both went on with our lives. You still hold a place in my heart. I can see why you were
so loved by your family and friends.

My Father was a man who never ceased to amaze me. To me he was a lot more then just my Dad. He was a teacher that I trusted and enjoyed learning from. He was a huge source of knowledge and wisdom that would help anyone he could. In losing him the last lesson my Father taught me will be the one I hold closet to my heart. Never take advantage of the time you have to spend with your loved ones, because sometimes next weekend will never come, and for that I am so sorry Dad. I love you and will miss you more then you will ever know.

Your brother was a very nice man. Never once did he ever say anything bad about anyone. He was sure proud of his sons. Even through some
very dark moments in his life, he was able to move on and learn from mistakes. He never tried to blame others, that could of been easy sometimes. His heart was so full of love and compassion for others.
If I could of hand picked a brother it would of been Glenn. Much Loved
and respected for always hanging in there. He loved our country the USA and was proud to serve. Hang on family you will see him again someday. His believe and strong faith in God got him along way, Now he is with Jesus Christ because he chose to give his life to him. Skip and Mike I know your dad would want the same for you. Our prayers are with you

I never had the good fortune to meet Glenn McBride in person but we became pen pals last December when we met through the Help Hospitalized Veterans program. He was a delightful letter writer. Through his letters I learned about him and his love for his family and especially his little granddaughter.
I am very sad to hear that his life was taken from him. He was a relatively young man. May he rest in peace.

Dad, thank you for everything. I would not be the person I am today with out you teaching me how to be a good person, how to be proud, no matter how little you have and to always keep my head up.
I wish I could have said goodbye before you left us. Tell you all these things in person, one last time. Please know you'll always be in my heart. A part of me. I'll try my best to fill your shoes and learn from your mistakes so I don't have to go through all the heartache and trouble this life lead you.

Elvin Shipley

July 26, 2009

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.
