Hubert Rowland Obituary

Rowland, Hubert "Hub" Roy
Hub Rowland of Scottsdale gracefully passed away on April 30, 2009 at 96 years of age. He was born March 21, 1913 in Divernon, Illinois. In 1941 he married Helen Ida Geronsin in Columbia Heights, Minnesota. During WWII he enlisted in the U. S. Army Air Corp. and was selected to attend OCS. After serving as a Captain at Orly Field in Paris, he returned safely to reside in Owatonna, Minnesota. In 1957 he decided to leave behind the Minnesota winters and made his way out west, settling the family in Scottsdale. Insurance claims adjusted by trade, he retired from Aid Insurance Company of Phoenix. Helen passed away in July of 1994. Eleven years later he moved to the Springs where enjoyed the company of new friends and his heart was warmed by Elizabeth. He is survived by his committed partner, Elizabeth Hiniker; son, Robert H. Rowland (Julie) of Phoenix, AZ; daughter, Rebecca S. Guerriero (Gary) of Louisville, CO; grandchildren, Jennifer Phillips of Boulder, CO, Nicole (Mark) Kanda of Redwood City, CA and Jacob Rowland of Phoenix, AZ; and great grandchildren, Halden Kavanagh and Annika Kanda. He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Rowland, mother, Hazel Star Rowland and brother, George Rowland. A memorial gathering will take place Saturday, May 9 at 10:00 a.m. at the Springs, 3212 N. Miller Road, Scottsdale, AZ. Messinger Indian School Mortuary assisted with arrangements.
