Irene Discher Obituary

Discher, Irene Marie
September 9, 1923 – June 17, 2016. Irene passed peacefully June 17, 2016 at 92 years of age, with family all around her. Born in 1923 in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota, Irene Madory married Clarence, "Granny" Discher in San Francisco in 1943 and they moved to Arizona in 1955. She worked at Motorola for 20 years and was a devoted wife and incredible mother for 4 daughters. She was so proud to be a grandmother of 10, great grandmother of 12, and great-great grandmother of 8. Her kind and caring nature was loved and appreciated by so many. She brightened the room and made the world a better place with her sparkling blue eyes, sense of humor, kind spirit, strong faith, and unconditional love for her family and friends. An avid sports fan, her daily schedule revolved around Suns and Diamondbacks games. She had a wonderful life and in her later years, accepted the physical struggles from diminished eyesight and COPD with an awesome attitude and never a complaint. Her physical presence will be missed every day, but her spirit and soul will remain very present in our lives. Irene joins her husband of 63 years, a son-in-law, 2 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild in heaven. She is survived by: daughter Judy Johnson; daughters and son-in-laws Suzie & Pete Peterson and Cindy & Bruce Bowers; and daughter and daughter-in-law Mary Discher & Vicki Grove; plus 3 generations of grandchildren. There will be no service. We celebrated her life, with her, in 2013 when we gathered together to honor her and her beautiful soul. She would be grateful for any donation made in her name to the Phoenix Suns Charities benefiting the needs of children and families in Arizona.

Hi Mom. Tomorrow marks 4 years since you left our world for another. Wow how time flies. I talk to you often and always say "hi" when I see a butterfly around me in Pine. I'm pretty sure that's you visiting. I hope you can hear me. Love you and miss you.

Hi Mom. It's 3 years ago tomorrow since you left to go to your new world. I miss you everyday, but I continue to feel the love you always showed me. I miss hearing your voice and giggling with you about stupid stuff. Oh, and by the way, your special Jessica had a baby and I'm a Gramma. My chosen name is Grammadory, in your honor. Her name is Mila and she is beautiful. I hope you are happy and resting peacefully. I love you. Mary

Hi Irene:

Just thought I would share that you are so missed by us and your entire family. Everytime I turn a Diamondbacks game on I think of you and smile! :) And even though Mar misses you so much, we are making sure she is living life and laughing.

I am sure you are loving heaven!

Love you,

Hi Mom,

We're coming up on a year since you left this world and headed to your next one. I hope the world you are in is incredible. I miss you. I talk to you every day, just as I did when you were hear. No doubt you hear me, but I do miss hearing your voice and your answers. I love you so much and hope that you are having a blast in heaven. Tell Dad "hi" and that I miss him too.

Blessings to all of you. Mom Discher had a kind and accepting nature about her that I will always remember. Back in the day, She never judged me & I'll always love her for that. Her smile, sense of humor & love of her family was so special. Wonderful role model, big heart. XOXOs

Irene:

You are such a special person. Your spirit, kindness, and love will live on forever in all of the hearts you touched. I am honored to have been accepted into your life. And I will be forever grateful for all of your insight when I was taking care of Lu and had questions. We did have some fun laughs at that time. Thank you for making this world a better place. You will be missed!

Grandma D was one special lady who loved sports and laughing with all her family members.

I remember growing up and watching sports on TV with my mom Mary Discher. We would want to call Grandma D if there was a big play or a good game, but we had to make sure Grandma didn't record it so we won't ruin the game! We always had to know when she was watching her sports game.

She will be missed and always loved .

Irene, I am so glad that I had the opportunity to share my medical expertise with you and Granny. Little did I know that I would be the one who got the most out of those times! Meeting you and getting to know you was such a treat in my life. I only hope that I can grow old with the grace and humor that you did.

Rest in Peace Irene,

Irene definitely lit up and warmed up every room she entered. She accepted you as "one of hers" from the moment she met you. I saw her loving nature shine through her daughter Mary, and graddaughters. Heaven is a sweeter place with Irene in residence!

I will always remember going to grandma and grandpas for dinner! Grandma was the best cook! I always had the best time playIng cards with them while dinner was still cooking. I also loved playing golf with her? I have no words to describe how awesome she was. I have an enormous amount of love and respect for her!

I will always cherish staying the weekends with you and Grandpa and getting up early...smelling the toaster when I woke, reading the paper with you guys, golfing and having lunch/dinner at the clubhouse in Sunland Village...I will miss you always and love you always.

It was such a pleasure to have you in our home for these last 3 years! It was wonderful to have around. I will miss you! I can make spaghetti in your honor once a week and maybe even slip in a little hamburger hash once in a while! Love you

Mom,
You lived your life with incredible grace and compassion. Your heart was as big as the world, your giggle made the room light up, and your eyes twinkled with love. You always saw the good in people and things, and that is something that I aspire to continue on your behalf as your legacy. I am grateful for your love and support as your "daughter" and know this world is a better place because you were here. May your spirit soar high in the heavens. Be at peace, breathe easy, and say hello to all my other angels up there! With love, Vicki

My sweet Madre...
I miss you more than I can even express. Your voice, wisdom, strength and kindness are things that I will miss every day. But, you are a part of me, and you will always be with me. I take great comfort in knowing that you have returned to health and are enjoying the angel wings that you so earned and deserve. I will always be grateful to have had the privilege of being your daughter. I love you. Rest in peace Mom.
