Iris McAfee Obituary

McAfee, Iris
97 of Scottsdale, passed away on May 15, 2017. She was born in Stillwater, OK on January 2, 1920 to Warner and May Hinkle. She passed away May 15, 2017 at age 97. Iris was married to Charles McAfee from 1939 until his death in 1998. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Kyle Charles McAfee. She is survived by her children Chuck McAfee (MB), Carol Mosser (Russ), John McAfee (Susan), and Mary Cole (David); grandchildren Julie McAfee, Justin McAfee, Kimberly Beaton (Scott), Scott Mosser (Gigi), Erica McAfee, Kevin Cole, Lauren Cole and Brian Cole and great granddaughters Emily Beaton and Bridgette Beaton. Iris and her pioneering parents moved from Utah to Colorado in a covered wagon when she was a young child. She married Charles and raised their children on a farm in Southwestern Colorado that had been homesteaded by Charles' aunts. She was involved in 4-H with her children, was a 73 Year member of P.E.O., participated in Eastern Star and was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Cortez, CO. After being a winter visitor in Scottsdale for many years, Iris moved here in 2004 to be near her daughters. Iris' biggest joy was being a mother and grandmother and great grandmother. She was a wonderful example of love, caring, strength and faith. Her memorial service will be at 2:00 on May 27th at Paradise Valley United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to The Bridge Emergency Shelter, PO Box 56, Cortez, CO 81321 or UMOM, 3333 E. Van Buren St., Phoenix, AZ 85008.
