I was writing a post on FB about teachers that influenced my life. Mr. Frew was not my teacher, but he was the Principal of Ann Ott. Mr. Frew asked his college roommate and friend, Frank Doss to mentor me, during my high school years. Mr. Frew also got me my first job, at Washington Park Pool. Know that Mr. Frew was a positive influence in my life.

Dear Frew Family,
My condolences to you for your loss. Mr. Frew was such a wonderful man and I have many wonderful memories of him and his quiet presence. He was such a good friend and mentor to my dad - Joe Barragon - who also spent many years working for the City of Phoenix Aquatics Dept. as a life guard, pool manager and pool supervisor. My dad thought so highly of Mr. Frew, as did we.
I can never forget seeing the both of them strolling the pool deck during swim meets at Encanto pool in the 60's. There they both were with their white belts and white shoes! They were in style.
Such good memories of such a good man.

My sincerest condolences go out to the family of Mr. Frew. I was a student at Ann Ott School, as were my brothers and sisters, when he was the principal there. He treated everyone with respect and dignity. Mr. Frew, as well as other teachers, such as Mr. Siesco, motivated us to study and educate ourselves. My two sisters graduated from NAU and went on to receive masters degrees, and I became a lawyer, due in no small part to the fact that they believed in us and encouraged us all the time. Although I had not seen Mr. Frew in years I think about him and Mr. Siesco from time-to-time and quietly thank them for thier unwavering commitment to educating their students. We have all suffered an enormous loss.

I was a student of Jack's at Stevenson School. Later worked with him at the Phoenix Swimming Pools for over twenty years. Loved him like a Father. He was one of the most honest, sincere, and faultless Men I ever had the privilege of knowing. His positive influence on the lives of thousands of young people from South Phoenix cannot be measured.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Jack's family.
My relationship with Jack goes back to the late 1940's. Jack was a young coach at Stevenson School and I was a young student.
Jack set a great example and gave encouragement to his students.
Over the years we maintained our friendship and enjoyed many rounds of golf.
He was a true friend and will be sorely missed by everyone that ever knew him.

My condolences to the Frew family for the loss of a wonderful man. Coach Frew as he was known to the many students that attended Stevenson School. Coach attended our neighborhood reunions when he was able to do so and played golf with some of the guys. Coach is probably the last of the many teachers we had at Stevenson and by far the best so he will truly be missed. We all loved him.

Always my favorite Uncle. Didn't get to spend as much time as I would have liked to, but the last time was a real treat and full of memories. One of my best days on the golf course was with my brother Philip and Uncle Jack some years ago on a beautiful fall day. So let's all hoist a cool one and remember Jack Frew. We love you, Dave & Debbie Caldwell

My deepest sympathy and thoughts are with the Frew family at this difficult time. When I saw Jack's picture and obituary, a flood of memories came back of my growing up at the Phoenix pools, with my father (Milt Morse) at swimming meets, and all of the other pool-related events. Jack was always such a favorite of ours. He was also a great boss when I lifeguarded during my college years. My thoughts are with all of you.
