Wally was truly my brother from another mother....... Jim was a super person who rode the rough roads of RAGBRAI on a daily basis, he prevailed most of them and skinned up his knees and elbows on other days, but Jim challenged those roads every day, he never gave up. He conquered some of the greatest feats a man can do, but his ride and coarse ended quicker than he had planned. He was a man with a smile and a heart, he shared them both as much as he could and many of us are still enlighten and encouraged by his persona and will always live with a little bit of Wally in our hearts and smiles.
God Bless and "only the good die young" ....... All our love

I have so many great memories growing up with jimmy. he was a great friend and companion in our early years. I guess what says it all is the fact that later on after we moved away from the crocker street house, every time we drove by I would point at the Wahlers house and say that's where I used to live. My deepest condplences to Bill, Jane and the whole family. God bless.

A life lived too short, but with courage, wonderment and laughter. May Jim rest in peace and be a guardian angel to all he loved and who loved him very much.
Thinking of you Dave, Susan and all the Wahlers family...he was so blessed to have you in his life as you were with him in yours.

My family and I never had the pleasure of meeting Jim, but I feel that I knew him through his lovely sister-in-law, Susan. She asked for many prayers for him, and told of wonderful stories about him. We have a few things in common with him; we lived in Iowa, and we like watching the Iowa Hawkeyes, too! Many heartfelt thoughts, and prayers to Dave, Susan, and all his family and friends.
