Jay Mahr Obituary

Jay Beakly Mahr Jr., 81 of Phoenix, Arizona passed away May 30, 2008 at the Sherman Hospice House in Scottsdale, Arizona. Jay was born December 8, 1926 in Brooklyn, NY. After graduating High School he joined the United States Navy. He was a WWII veteran. Upon his honorable discharge Jay went straight to the University of Tennessee where he played football for the Vols. He graduated from the University of Washington and went to work for Boeing in the "Secret Black Hole Division." Jay loved to watch John Wayne movies and going to the Suns games. He was a Scout Master, little-league baseball coach and a noted Historian. Jay is survived by his daughter, Janet Freeman of Hailey, ID; son, Warren Mahr of Scottsdale, AZ; grandchildren, David Mahr of Scottsdale, AZ, Jake and Zack Freeman of Hailey, ID and Sister Carol Behn of Wisconsin. Jay will be missed by many, forgotten by few. A private celebration of Jay's life will be held in the state of New York at a later date. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley 1510 E. Flower St. Phoenix, AZ 85014.
