Jeff Prager
Prager, Jeff
Jeffrey Scott Prager of Clark, NJ and Tempe, AZ passed away on June 24, 2010. Jeff was born in Newark, NJ on June 13, 1961 to Phil and Sheila Prager. Jeff relocated from New Jersey to Tempe, AZ in 1979. Jeff is survived by his mother Sheila (& Joel), his brother Glen, his brother Mitchell (his sister in law Andra, his nieces Hannah and Tara), and his girlfriend Ally (& her children Jamie and Billy). "Giant" Jeff Prager was Giant in every way. Jeff was a New York Giants fanatic, perhaps their number one fan; he had a giant personality, a giant heart & soul, and was a gentle giant of a man. Jeff had a way of ingratiating himself with everyone he met and those fortunate enough to have met him will never forget the positive impact he made on his or her life. Jeff demonstrated a love and passion in everything he did and he lived his life to the fullest. When Jeff was in the room everyone was smiling. Whenever stories about Jeff are told they undoubtedly start with, "if you never met Jeff you would never believe this story." Jeff was EVERYBODY'S best friend-a GIANT Teddy Bear. "Sometimes the lights all shinin on me; Other times I can barely see. Lately it occurs to me what a long, strange trip it's been."

Wow Jeff!
It's hard to believe it was 32 years ago today that we met at the record store. I still remember giving you my number and I can't believe you kept it all these years! I miss you!

Melvin Seals is playing tonight with Dave Abear on guitar. I thought I'd look up an old friend and invite him down to the show. This is the page that came up in my search. I am devastated. Jeff had a rare passion, that's what put him among the best of the music's elite. Tonight's JGB show at Club 910 will be dedicated to you buddy. You are loved and missed. See you on the other side. CHONGO D. P.S. Hey, look on the bright side, at least you don't have to be around when the world comes to an end :).

This is horrible news. Jeff was a singular activist for local music, and the many bands involved, in Tempe, and the best fan and support imagineable. I can speak for many people, and, certainly Xtra Ticket, when I say this is a great loss. So sorry to hear.

As I try to think of the words to describe my friend Jeff I can't. Tears build up in my eyes and there is a lump in my throat the size of Giants stadium.

Jeff was friends to many us here at the NY Giants. He was simply know as Prager. We saw him at the hotel, on the field, on the road, and at almost any signifigant giant outing or game. Jeff could never get enough of the giants or our memoriablia. I think it was his mission to have more giants stuff than even the giants owned. He would outbid anyone on Ebay to get what he wanted. More importantly he always bleed blue and would give you the shirt off his back if you ask for it. He was a true Giant in every sense of the word.

Not many people knew that Jeff and I shared the same birthday. Both of us were born on June 13th...on a Friday. With that said we had a special connection. Over the years we found we had similar interest; in music and sports. As much as I helped Jeff out he helped me out too. Always trying to get me tickets backstage to hang with our favorite artists.

Jeff you touched so many hearts in this world in such a short lifetime. I am sorry I found out of your passing so late for I would have been there to pay my respects to your family and Ally. I know right now you are with the Giant greats of all time talking about the games past, listening to Jerry play his guitar, and looking in on the team from time to time.

I always wonder why god would take someone so special from us so early and I guess what I have heard is true. There are only so many good souls in this world and every now and then god needs to take one back. I will miss you my brother dearly. You were a true friend and a true Giant.

I know when it is our turn to leave this Earth that Jeff will be waiting for us up there in heaven to show us the ropes and where to get all access passes to the best concerts and sporting events.

I guess the only thing left to do, as Jerry Garcia would say, is smile, smile smile...

Your friend,
Dave Maltese

Jeff my friend, we were friends since the 1960's and this is perhaps the first time that I ever got to speak on your behalf. It was always you, my brother, who spoke for us. Years before you became VIP at Giants Stadium, you would try to convince me to sneak with you into the restricted areas of the stadium to "meet some Giant players". Rather than be embarassed when asked to leave, you spoke up, "explained what the deal is" to whoever had "decision making authority". What most of us mortals would give today for some of your powers of persuasion. Especially the way you could turn the situation completely around and make a new best buddy. With much hard work, you eventually secured the right connections and no longer had to hustle your way in. This took much persistence on your part, this did not happen overnight or even in one year. You worked hard to be "Giant Jeff" and I am so proud of you that you never gave up on that dream. Money was not even that important to you but you were a success nonetheless. There is no doubt some of Jeff Prager in all of us for if we want something badly enough... I am thankful that my boys got to know you and how proud I am to be an honary member of the Prager family. Your grandparents were my grandparents, your brothers will always be my brothers. Shelly, I still remember when you used to sing "Consider Yourself" (at home) to me when I would sleep over. There is probably more I could write but I never had to say any of this before, because, you always knew!

I was told of Jeff's passing last week. Even though I had not seen or spoken to him for quite a while I still feel a strong sense of loss. I knew Jeff very well in the 80's and had a number of very, very intersting experiences with him. He will be missed. My condolences to his family and friends. That includes you Nancy.

..... By the way. If you would like to contact me to talk about Jeff WITHOUT using this website, I can be reached directly at [email protected] (I know how some websites can accumulate information about someone just for using their website, and although I'm not saying this one does, I just wanted to give you the option to bypass this website when contacting me). By all means, PLEASE leave an entry here if you want to share your memories about Jeff. We'd LOVE to hear about them since there were SO MANY people that Jeff helped, laughed and hung-out with, or simply were handed his Presentation Solutions business card (he was the original network-er, before there were computers)!

Take care ALL.

I will always miss my dearest friend, Jeff, as he was also my closest friend. Like everyone else, I was in disbelief when I heard the news of his passing. Despite his less-than Olympic athlete physique, we all thought he would live forever - at least I did. After I heard the news, I used my last Frequent Flyer Miles to immediately fly out from NJ, so that I could be there to say goodbye to Jeff one last time. At the family's request, I had the privilege of being a Pole Bearer who moved him to his final resting place within a cemetery in Scottsdale, AZ. On Jeff's behalf, I dressed-up in black with a collared red, white and blue NY GIANTS polo shirt (I knew that he would have wanted it that way).

Jeff was a man that always seem to beat the odds when it came to doing anything he wanted/needed to do. The man was resourceful to say the least. We all have stories of Jeff accomplishing things that others would only dream about! Jeff always spoke of his friends in the NY GIANTS organization (past and present). These were people that Jeff had developed friendships with after initially assisting them with some AV business (or not). A SPECIAL THANKS to Dave Maltese for some of those great memories. Other NYG players that Jeff had befriended were greats like Michael Strahan and Jeromy Shockey, among many, many others who he had connected with over the years (decades).

The picture I uploaded was Jeff at one of his Las Vegas(?) trade shows, probably in 2008 or 2009. Note that Peter Frampton (the guy on the stage) had the privilege of standing directly next to Jeff during this memorable evening.

In conclusion, I will borrow a saying from Jeff. Please don't forget to imagine him saying it with the intonations that you remember HE would use....... "PEACE, MY BROTH-ER"!
