John Vaughn Obituary

Vaughn, John F. DDS
Dr. John F. Vaughn passed away on August 24, 2014, having lived a long and full life, as a World War II veteran, later as a dentist in Phoenix and always as a devoted husband and father. Born on November 7, 1918, in Phoenix, John graduated from Phoenix Union High School in 1936 and attended Phoenix College before entering the U.S. Army Air Force to serve in World War II. Assigned with the 20th Air Force in Guam and Islands in the Marianas chain, he rose to the rank of major. At war's end, John attended the University of Southern California and then graduated first in his class from the University of Washington's dental school in 1951. John returned with his wife Patricia and the couple's two young sons to locate in Phoenix to begin his dental practice. He retired from dentistry in 1981. John is survived by his wife of 71 years, Patricia; son Dr. James Vaughn and his wife Nicky, of Phoenix; son Terry Vaughn, of Colorado; son John Vaughn and his wife Kim, of Yuma; grandchildren Christopher Vaughn of Phoenix, and Christian Vaughn and Tricia Vaughn, both of Canada, and great-grandchildren Jason and Talia, of Canada. Preceded in death by his father George W. Vaughn; mother Zella Dysart Vaughn; two brothers, Dr. Louis Vaughn and Dr. George W. Vaughn II, and sister Virginia Tigar. Private services were held.
