Joseph Spadaro Obituary

Spadaro, Joseph
Joseph Spadaro, born on May 1st, 1937 passed away peacefully on July 21st, 2009 after a 5 year battle with cancer. Joseph will join his beloved daughter, Dawn Marie Sweeney who preceded Joseph just 3 years ago. Joseph was born in Chicago, Illinois and graduated from the University of Illinois-Champaign. Joseph was a dedicated and loving husband and father who worked endlessly to provide for his family. Before settling in Arizona, Joseph was a Divisional Manager for a pharmaceutical company in Illinois for 21 years and later was an owner of a clothing store and restaurant. For the past 23 years, Joseph and his wife Mary Ann were owners of a Merry Maids franchise in the Mesa area. Joseph found great satisfaction and was devoted to give back to his community in the form of raising money. He was active in the Knights of Columbus at St Bridget's Catholic Church where he earned his 4th degree and as Program Director successfully carried out several fund raisers. Additionally, Joseph implemented several fundraisers for the Boys and Girls Club of Guadalupe in an effort to help children. Other areas where Joseph was involved in included a Lector at St Bridget's Catholic Church, School Board Member in Bristol, Wisconsin and a member of the Chamber of Commerce in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Spadaro; his son, Steven Spadaro; his grandchildren, Nicholas, Adrianna and Sofia. Visitation will be held from 6-9 pm, Friday, July 24th, with a Vigil at 7 pm, at St. Bridget's Catholic Church, 2213 N. Lindsay Road, Mesa, Arizona. Services will be held on Saturday, July 25th at St. Bridget's Catholic Church in Mesa at 1:00 pm. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, donations to be made to the Knights of Columbus Council 9800 in honor of Joseph Spadaro. Donations may be sent to St. Bridget's Catholic Church; 2213 N. Lindsay Rd. Mesa, AZ 85213. Arrangements entrusted to Melcher Mortuary Mission Chapel, 6625 E. Main St, Mesa, Arizona.

Mary Ann,

What a shock it was for us to find out Joe had passed away. We were away at the time. Though we are saddened at his passing, we rejoice in God to have him in our lives at St. Bridget, for all his dedicated work. He was a friend to all and will be sorely missed. Peace be with you.

Mary Ann and Steven,
As you know I loved and dearly respected Joe. As much as he teased me he was always there to offer advise and help. I tried to do the same for him.

I will miss talking to Joe once or twice a week and eating at Vito's together for Knight's business.
My consolation is this: I don't know what I did to deserve Joe coming into my life but I thank God for letting it happen. I am better for it and I am sure you both feel the same way. So we are fortunate because many others never had the opportunity to know Joe.

If there is anything we can do for you and your family please let us know.

Love,
Bernie

Mrs Spadaro,
I just wanted to let you know how much I loved Joe. I enjoyed all the times he would come to the office and make me laugh. He faught a great fight but unfortunately the chemo let him down. Please send love to your family and I will think of you both when I make my gnocchi. Love Toni Marando
