Hey Josh,
It's Sensei Rick. I still miss you. I miss you as a friend, a coworker and a training partner. I know your heart is always in the right place. I miss you and your silly smile. You are the only instructor more silly than even myself. And you will know, your lines really impressed me. Having you as my training partner in Rons classes was the best time I can remember. You pushed me to be better. That's all anyone can ask for. Osu Sensei.

I knew Josh growing up as one of the 'block kids'. After hearing his loved ones talk of the man he became, it became clear to me that Josh was still the same old Josh I knew back then. A gentle soul, caring person, and all around great guy. It was so great to hear how he became a hero to so many people and the impact he had on so many lives. I will always remember his laugh, his smile and his generousity. He will be missed by so many but not forgotten.

Sensei Josh will truly be missed. He was a wonderful instructor and my sons really looked up to him. He taught them so much and really lended a hand to me in discipling them and teaching them respect. Our prayers are with his family. Although we would rather him still be here I know he is in a better place and happy.
God Bless

Josh.. it's UNK G. You touched so many lives - I wasn't aware how many. I wish I could have made the impact you made. Christmas won't ever be the same again without you handing out the presents. I feel so empty.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Josh was my son's Sensei and we both are at a loss for words. What we will both remember most about Josh is his sense of humor and extreme love for karate. He always had my son laughing from his jokes or his funny stories. My son holds dear to his heart the countless memories of Josh at practice or at tournament encouraging him and telling him that anything is possible. My son has truly lost his hero. He also holds near his heart a piece of wood that Josh had broken and autographed after one of the graduation ceremonies and countless pictures that had been taken over the years. Josh sure was one of a kind. He had this intense thing about him that made him a wonderful teacher and person. We will miss him so very much. We must find some comfort in knowing that we will see him again and laugh until our sides hurt but until then.....rest well my loving friend. We love you and miss you.

Our hearts are aching and most certainly will for months to come but we must all take comfort in the fact that we will see him again and laugh hysterically at all the jokes and stories again. Until we meet again my loving friend...rest well. We love you and miss you.

Josh was our nephew. We have many memories of him from the time he took his first steps to him sitting in a chair with his wife in his lap, rubbing her pregnant stomach and wispering love to her and their unborn child. We wanted more memories, but will keep close in our heart the memories we have. We miss you.

To Miss Gail and the rest of the family,
Josh was much loved by us all. His love for children showed every day, and we're extremely glad he was part of our lives these past seven years. He will never be forgotten.

Gail and Angie, My heart remembers a little guy that was so kind to my "Matthew". I know that you are working thru the sadness that accompanies any sudden passage. Josh will always be the little guy that was quite the imp in my thought, hope his children have that same unique characteristic. Now he can teach Matt some new Karate moves and catch up on our world. The chain s broken for now, but link by link will form again in perfection. My love to you both Dr. Mary (Brown) McVicar

We all lost a great friend and my daughter lost her hero. I can't tell you how much we all cared for Josh. I am so sorry for your loss. The past seven years that Haydyn has studied with Josh have been great and we will always smile when we think of him demonstrating what NOT to do at tournament. Gail My heart goes out to you. We Tried to add our favorite picture of Josh and Haydyn. He had her laughing so hard before it was taken. If you would like a copy just let us know. He picked her up and flipped her upside down then put her down jumped behind her and said smile. Josh we will miss you so much.

I'm totally shocked! I can't believe this...my son was in Young Champions Karate for over 3 years with Josh as his instructor. My daughter also had Josh as a Soccer coach. I wish I knew what happened so I can explain this to my kids. My prayers & condolences go out to the family! I'm so sorry to hear this Gail!
