Julie Dykes Obituary

Julie Walling Dykes, June 26, 1938 – April 19, 2005. Julie Dykes passed
away peacefully and is now home with her precious Lord and Savior. She conquered speaking and walking again after having a stroke fifteen months ago and had wonderful cherished moments with family and friends. Julie met every challenge she faced with dignity and grace. She impacted the lives of all who knew her. Her desire would be for all of her friends and family to know her Lord and Savior. Julie was born in Tremonton Utah on June 26, 1938. She moved to Phoenix with her family at a young age. She attended Camelback High School and was in its first graduating class. During this time of her life Julie was involved with the National League of Families in obtaining a full accounting of the men listed as MIA/POW. Julie met Don Dykes in 1975 and they later wed in 1982. Julie and Don attended First Christian Church in Phoenix and later attended Chapparal Christian Church in Scottsdale. She was involved in Chris Town Woman's Bible Study and prayer group. She continued meeting with bible study groups throughout her life. Julie's pride and joy were her grandchildren. The love she showed them is a lasting legacy. Preceding her in death her sister Vicky Zalimas and father Wes Landvatter. My heartfelt condolences to Julie's family. Julie had told me how much she enjoyed her last Camelback Hi Reunion in 1998, and was so looking forward to the joint '56/'57 reunion in 2004, but it was not meant to be. I was hoping for her recovery, but now am truly sorry to hear that we have lost her. Sincerely, Dave Roberts '57 (2004 Reunion Chairman)

Dear family

Just noticed this obit about Julie(I always called her Judy?) and wanted you to know that my thoughts and prayers are with you. Praying for all of you to have precious memories of this special lady. I went to Monte Vista grade school with Chuck. Lots of memories as all of us remember the great years we had when Camelback was new and we were young. I truly admire what Judy accomplished with her life and the value she placed on her family and her Lord.
