Kenneth Giovando Obituary
"Coach" Kenneth Giovando, was reunited with his son Brian Giovando and parents Lena and Bat Giovando in Heaven on June 25, 2020. He was born on November 30, 1944. Coach leaves behind his beloved "bride" of 54 years Arlene Giovando, his son Mike Giovando, daughters; Alayna Despain (David Despain), Jennifer Giovando, Emilee Giovando, and Julie Ainsworth (Eric Ainsworth), sister; Gerry Crocker, brother; John Giovando, six grandsons and ten granddaughters. He leaves a legacy of inspiration and love for all the athletes he coached and coached alongside over his 40-year career as a football coach. He worked tirelessly to use his talent as a coach and teacher to better the lives of anyone he came to know. He used his faith, passion, and unending humor to motivate and show love to his family, friends, and players. Most of all he loved his wife. "Hold the rope!"
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2020 from 12 Noon to 3:00 p.m. at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 4225 N 56th Street, Phoenix. Interment will be at Green Acres Cemetery. I miss you so much Dad!!! I think about you all the time and wish I had just one more day with you. I know your watching over all of us. Mom and Isabella love and miss you more than words can express. It's been 4 years already since you have been gone. It feels like a lifetime. We will see you again and I know that for sure. I love you with all my heart and soul.

Kenny and I worked together for many years in the Maricopa Community College District and as financial planners. Few people have the degree of innate enthusiasm for life than Coach G. He shared that enthusiasm with anyone who came into his orbit -- athletes, students, colleagues, clients, friends and, of course, his family. I was fortunate to have Ken in my life and I will always admire the impact he had on so many people. Congratulation on a life well lived. Now RIP my friend.

Just want to express my love and appreciation to Coach. He was a true influence to me not only on the football field but in life in general. I had the privilege to be recruited coached and educated by him and take many of his lessons and apply them to this day. I sure hope the Giovando family knows how much he really did touch and inspire countless people over the years. May you all find peace in this trial and feel the many prayers that are on your behalf.

During Ken's years at Salpointe I worked as a manager for the baseball teams. He was fun to be around and had a great sense of humor. He related to the team well and served as a mentor to all.
