Lawrence Daniel Wong

Lawrence Daniel Wong, 70, of Phoenix, Arizona, went to be with the Lord on August 17, 2008. Born on September 8, 1937 in Toi Shan, China, he emigrated to the U.S. at the age of 16 and lived in Fargo, ND. He graduated from Morehead State College with Bachelor of Arts in design technology. In 1970, he moved to Phoenix, AZ to live closer to his sisters and other family members. He met and married his wife, Eliza, in Hong Kong in 1973. They raised their children in the home he proudly helped build himself. He proudly worked for Maricopa County in the Flood Control District for 19 years and retired in 1997. He was an active member of First Chinese Baptist Church for more than 40 years. Lawrence was an avid traveller and a lifelong musician, playing violin in the Scottsdale Symphony for many years. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years, Eliza, children Alan (Heather) and Mariana Liu (Patrick), granddaughters Avery Liu and Sabrina Wong, sisters Ming Ong, Lillian Dang (Luke), Rose Ramond (Paul), godson Stephen Chan and his family, many cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family. Visitation services will be on August 22 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at A. L. Moore Grimshaw Mortuary, 710 W Bethany Home Rd. Memorial services will be on August 23 at 11 a.m. at First Chinese Baptist Church, 4910 E Earll Dr. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Chinese Baptist Church.
