Lee Robert Finch Obituary

Finch, Lee Robert
Lee passed away on October 4, 2012 from the effects of Alzheimer's disease. He was 69. Lee was the owner and chef of the highly regarded Finch's Restaurant in Scottsdale from 1973-1982. Lee spent his career in the food and beverage industry, starting with Braniff Airlines, traveling the world and, later after closing Finch's, he helped design commercial kitchens and marketed restaurant equipment.
Lee was a wonderful friend with a great sense of humor, and hilarious stories often at his own expense. He was happiest at home, with Bette and the dogs, especially Tux. Though he was a fabulous chef with a palette second to none, he encouraged others with their cooking and was generous with praise for their efforts, which made times with Lee so fun.
Lee was born and raised in Oakland, CA and served in the Navy. He is survived by his long time best friend Bette O'Neill of Scottsdale, and a brother, Tony Finch of Albuquerque, NM. No services are planned but we do have many of his recipes and our cherished memories, and at some point we'll gather his friends and hold a "Lee-fest" in his honor. We miss you Lee but you'll always be in our hearts.

As a young guy just beginning to figure out life, I was lucky enough to run across Lee and Finch's. He not only provided a great environment to work in, he was a person I looked up to and always remember my experiences with fond memories. Rest in peace Lee!
