Leta Ford Obituary

Leta Fay Ford

Peoria - With close family and dear friends by her side we bid farewell to Leta Fay Ford on Thursday January 18, 2018 in Peoria, Arizona. Leta was born September 29, 1934 in Littlefield, Texas to Ernest King and Zola Amanda Lambert King. Later, in 1935, the King family made their home in Glendale, Arizona.

Attending school in Peoria, Arizona, she made many lifelong friends whom she loved and cherished. Not at all surprising as she shared a King family virtue, the gift of conversation. Anecdotes from her life experiences about growing up with her brothers, picking cotton after school, and tending beehives with her Grandpa Lambert are forever etched in our mind. She came from dedicated parents and learned very early the value of family and community. She filled our lives with recollections of love, laughter, wonderful food, and endless support.

Many will continue to benefit from her significant contribution by starting the conversation, in the early 1980's, about sexual harassment in the workplace. Thank you for standing up and making our world a better place.

She is survived by four children, Karen Irvine, Harry Ford, Wayne Ford, Clay Ford, three brothers, Randle King, Leonard King, Roger King, "Nani" to seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.

She is predeceased by her parents, two brothers, David King, Larry King, two children, Reece Jutson, and Steven Ford.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Thank you Leta Ford for your courage. You put a ripple in the pond of sexual harassment in the workplace at a time when women's concerns and rights were ignored. You were put through hell for it while we female co-workers had to silently cheer you on. You paved the way for us and women everywhere. May you rest in peace knowing that you made a difference.
