Dearest Bob, Jan, Anne, Jane and Paul,
I just found out today about Mark and I am stunned. Not long before moving back to Phx I talked to Mark at length and we prayed together. He had just began recovering from his roof fall. He told me how Jane was there for him constantly and how it made every bit of a difference for him. We talked about so many things.
I am so tremendously sorry. My heart aches for everyone of you. I am so sorry.

My heart aches for your whole family in the loss of Mark. I met him at the gym where he worked the front desk and remember him as a wonderful man with a huge heart. I watched him open his heart and his home to a friend of mine, who also worked at that church, that was going through a tough time. While most everyone else turned their backs, Mark came closer and reached out. He was a true saint and lived the life of one, as I saw it. We had many conversations and I was awed by his casual, down to earth ways and the outpouring of acceptance he had that I don't find much in the 'Christian' world. He was truly open to being used by God and was a blessing to those who entered into his life.

Bob, Jan, Anne, Paul and Jane,
I am sorry I never met Mark; however, the Reams equally make a significant impact on all lives you encounter. My life is richer for your friendship.
How fitting to pay respect to Mark at All Saints, the place where we met over thirty years ago. The service was beautiful in the lovely sanctuary; peace and tranquility surrounded all who attended. Mark touched so many lives, and my family sends heartfelt sympathy for your loss.
Prayers and love,

Dear Ream Family,
Even though I already wrote a letter to you, I wanted to add a quick message here. As I told you, Mark called me the evening before he died and we had a lovely, long conversation complete with teasing and laughing. He sounded very positive. We were looking forward to seeing each other in October. I am so thankful we got to have this last conversation and I am thankful we got to continue our friendship as adults. And of course, I still have such fond memories of our time at All Saints. Much love to all of you. I hope all of your great memories of Mark will bring you some comfort in the months and years ahead.
Love, Susan

Dear Jennifer and Marie,
We have a great and mighty God...a God of power, love, and fairness. We do not always know why He allows things like this to happen in our lives, but we do know that His plan is perfect and just. I am very sorry for the incredible loss you have suffered, but I know that you will be stronger people when this time is past. I will continue to keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

My condolences to the Ream Family. Mark was part of our family too and we will miss him dearly. He was a part of my daughter Khadija's birth on August 11th 2006 and he was to join us for dinner on her one year anniversary August 11, 2007. God had plans for him and it was not aligned with our plans to break bread, we will always remember him when we celebrate our daughter's birthday. Thank you to the Ream Family for sharing him with us and the rest of the world. He was a generous and loving soul. Rest in peace grand pa.
Love
Shamil, Amina, and Khadija.

I write to Mark's family, his children (especially Brandon whom I met ), Carole and all Mark's extended family. This loss is a great shock and, for me, stretches back to the 17 years he worked with Ralph Showers at Rainbow Acres and The Ranch. My daughter, Sara Swift, is a glowing example of Mark's dedication to bringing these residents to Christ and fostering a winning attitude in their lives when most of the world counted them "losers". Heaven's rewards will be rich for Mark I pray for comfort to all who mourn this great loss today and send my heartfelt love to every member of his family. In the Peace of Christ,
Martha (Swift) Maxwell

Knowing
Mark and his sisters, Anne and Jane, from All Saints' Episcopal Day
School in the 1960s-70s, I am touched to read all these tributes to Mark and these friends' memories of him. I am indebted to my sister,
Susan, who was Mark's classmate and good friend, for letting me know of
Mark's death. I am reminded of the wonderful story of the husband who
sends flowers to his wife without a card or greeting, leaving the wife
to ponder all day long who might have sent her flowers. Arriving home
from work, the husband asks who sent the flowers, and the wife ticks
off 50 or more names of people she considered. The husband says
something like, 'Right you are; you are so beloved that it could have
been any one of those number of people.' Mark was beloved by many.
I cannot pretend to have been a part of Mark's life, but I have such a
strong memory of him from grammar school, of his stance (tall, thin,
athletic, confident), his demeanor (fun-loving, lighthearted, sincere),
and his 'fame'; as I recall, he excelled in athletics especially and was admired by those in that school.
My heart and my prayers go out to the Reams and to those who knew Mark
and held him in considerable esteem.

My deepest and sincerest condolences are extended to Mark's family and dear aquaintances. Mark was truly a person that could touch the lives of many without much effort. He was a friend and neighbor to me for the past two years and I will dearly miss him with all my heart. He truly made you the important part of his day when he was with you. His character and demeanor were nothing less than superior. God bless you my dear friend.

Mary, Brandon, Brian,
I am so deeply grieved to hear of your loss. Your Dad was man's man. A great man.
I met your Dad while working at the City of Glendale. It was a hot summer day and we both go stuck working in sanitation that day. Neither one of us were happy campers, but as the day progressed we quickly became close friends and realized that we were christian brothers.
When your Dad left the City of Glendale and began working at Rainbow Acres, he gave me a call and asked if I would like to come to work at Rainbow Acres. I said yes and it turned out to be the greatest years of my life.
It's a bittersweet time right now. We know that he is in Heaven, while we still grieve here on earth, but we will see him again someday.

I can't imagine Arizona without Mark.
When our little school group got together with him a few months ago, he was so full of good things to say about you all, his family; how proud he was of his kids, how he looked forward to seeing more of you, how blessed he was to have such great parents. You all really blessed his life, like he did ours. MAN, will he be missed!
