Mary Lou Bennett, age 95, transitioned from her earthly life into the arms of Jesus on June 12, 2021. Mary Lou was a veteran of the WAVES during WWII. She was a proud American patriot.

Mary Lou was a graduate of Phx College and ASU. She was a Scottsdale School Teacher for over 25 years before retiring in 1989.

As a 4th generation Arizona resident, Mary Lou was the heart and soul of The First Families of Arizona, an organization dedicated to preserving the history of the Pioneer Families that came to AZ prior to statehood.

She and her husband Bob participated in the Horseless Carriage Club with their prized 1910 REO.

Lastly, Mary Lou was an active member of the North Phx HS Alumni Assn. responsible for scholarships and grants for post high school training and education.

Mary Lou was an inspiration to everyone who knew her. She was creative, innovative and selfless. She lived as one of Arizona's richest resources, enhancing the lives of those who were blessed to have known her.

She is survived by 3 children, Bob Bennett (Marilyn), Leigh Bennett, and Cyndi Hughes (Bob), 6 grandchildren, Christina Crane (Shane), Melinda Utterback (Micah), Bobby Bennett (Janell), Julie Boddicker (Kurt), Brendan Hughes (Kendal), Shelby Hughes (Scott Roes) and 15 great-grandchildren.

Please join us for a Celebration of Her Life Saturday, July 31 at 11 am at Messinger Mortuary in Scottsdale.
