Michael Kaiser Obituary

Kaiser, Michael Lewis Kaiser
Mike Kaiser, 62, died Thursday, June 27 in Mesa, Arizona. He had been ill since a trauma in May, 2012. Mike was educated at Dartmouth College (1973) and the University of New Hampshire (1975). While at Dartmouth, he completed two semesters in Vienna, Austria, where many of his favorite composers lived. He taught music in New England schools before becoming a programmer/analyst for Digital Electronics Corporation. During his Boston years, he sang in the Worcester (MA) Chorus and toured Europe on several choral tours. He retired to Phoenix in 1995. Mike first met his wife Marietta in the parking lot of his Phoenix church when she came to visit it. They married February 20, 1999. Here he was part of the Arizona State University Choral Union and again made several European tours. In 1998 Mike even sang in the Sistine Chapel at the Vatican. He sang in choirs continuously for 49 years. He also taught music to a Sunday School class of developmentally disabled adults and sang in groups at his Phoenix church. Mike was active in M.S. support groups in Phoenix and Mesa. Survivors include his wife, Marietta Moravetz of Mesa, AZ, and three siblings in New England, and his brother-in-law, Jack Shaughnessy of Phoenix. Mike was preceded in death by his parents in 2012 and by his first wife, Marilyn Shaughnessy of Boston in 1993. Memorial gifts in Mike's name may be sent to the Ambassadors' and Childrens' Music Funds, Central United Methodist Church, 1875 N. Central Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85204. The Meldrum Mortuary of Mesa website will have a guestbook for messages. A celebration of Mike's life will be 2 p.m., Saturday, September 14 , at Central United Methodist Church, Phoenix.
