Michael Obert Obituary
67, of New River passed away on May 23rd, 2016. Born in Cincinnati, OH to Earle and Marjorie Obert. Graduated from Moeller High School of Cincinnati OH, 1966 and from Bradley University in Peoria IL, Magna Cum Laude, with an industrial engineering BS in 1971. Pi Sigma Tau member. Retired in 2009 after more than 40 years of service at Deere and Co. Lived in Loveland OH, Rapid City IL, Moline IL, Beaver Dam WI, Bettendorf IA, Beijing China, Cedar Falls IA, Torreon Mexico, and New River AZ. He was a proud father and grandfather, loving husband, avid golfer, sailor, and woodworker. Knights of Columbus member and St. Rose Philippine Duchesne of Anthem AZ parishioner. Survived by wife Annette Wuennemann Obert, children Michael Obert Jr. (Angie) of Mesa AZ, Christopher Obert (Tricia) of Woodenville WA, and Katherine Obert of New River AZ, grandchildren Patrick, Aaron, Madeleine, Laurel and Lucia Obert, and siblings Marsha Moyer (Mike) of San Bernadino CA, James Obert (Mary) of Loveland OH and Virginia Shallenberger (Chet) of Randolph OH. Private memorial service to be announced to friends and family. Body donated to science and research. Please send any donations to The Leukemia And Lymphoma Society (www.lls.org) in lieu of flowers. A bench will be erected in memoriam of Mike at Lake Pleasant Marina by the fall of 2016.

Uncle Mike was the nicest and most humble man I have known, He was my godfather and even though we did not get to spend lots of time together through our life we did have great time on the visits and time we did spend when we were with each other. He is deeply loved and is greatly missed! Always in my thought now that he is up there fishing and camping with my dad and they are both drinking a beer and looking down on us watching over. Love you Uncle Mike!

I was so sorry to hear of Mike's passing. I have such fond memories of him from our time at Bradley and at his wedding. He will always be remembered as one of the good guys. Although I had not seen him since college, thoughts of him often came to mind. I am reminded of two sayings that bring me comfort in times like these. "When two lives have touched, they can never again be completely separate." "Someday it won't hurt to remember." I will never forget The Big "O". I look to when we meet again so I can hear him call me "Wild Bill" one more time.
