Newton Rose Obituary

Newton C. "Buzz" Rose

N.C. "Buzz" Rose born April 12, 1938, in Pueblo, Colorado. Buzz went to meet his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, July 14, 2020. He passed peacefully in his home in Glendale, AZ. Buzz is survived by his wife Cathy of 45 years, his children Michelle (Faber) Austin, Bill (Jeanette) Rose, Shawn (Dave) Moyer, and Jason Rose; his grandchildren Danielle, Garrett, Dylan, Lauren, Kylie and Kenzie and his great-grandson Bleu. Buzz served 6 years in the US Marines, plus several years as a Marine Reservist.

Buzz raced Sprint Cars for 20 years in Arizona, California and across the United States. He took his "Rookie Test" for the Indy 500 in 1963. Later in life, he wrote 11 books on the History of Sprint Cars and was inducted into the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame in Iowa, as well as other Racing Halls of Fame in the USA.

Buzz lived the life many men would love to live. He had a wonderful wife, kids and grandkids. He had successful careers as a professional Sprint Car Driver, a salesman and the author of 11 books on the History of Sprint Cars. He was also an antique dealer, avidly restored vintage cars and motorcycles, collected WWII Militaria and later collected and sold rare books. Buzz was a season ticket holder of Diamondbacks Baseball Team from day one. But most importantly, Buzz was saved and we know we will see him again in Heaven.

Service by invitation only will be held at Green Acres Mortuary, 401 N. Hayden Rd., Scottsdale, AZ on Thursday, July 30, 2020.

I hadn’t known Buzz for very long - only about 3 years. We found each other thru Ancestry.com after we both had our DNA analyzed. His mother was my grandmother’s cousin. I never met her, but I was familiar with her name. Buzz and I shared an interest in family history, and he and Cathy took me with them to a reunion in Westcliffe, CO where our ancestors were part of a group of German immigrants that established the first German Colony in the State. We met some other family members there, and he took me to see my 2X-great-Grandmother’s grave. I’ll be forever grateful for that as I feel drawn to her. Buzz was a great guy, friendly, generous, honest, and I wish I could have known him much longer. I will miss him a lot. Rest In Peace, Cousin. Tell Grandma hello for me.
