Nora Vinson Obituary
Nora Jean "Jeanne" Vinson, 62, passed away surrounded by the love of family and friends, on June 1, 2012 after a three year battle with cancer. She was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado on June 13, 1949 to Edward Lee and Nora Ruth McMillen. She met the love of her life while attending Western State College and married Michael John Vinson on March 15, 1969. She graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1974, later she received her Masters in education from Arizona State University. They moved to Tempe in 1990. She taught classes in the Tempe school district and was a Librarian for the Kyrene school district and later at Marcos De Niza High School. Jeanne was a devoted wife, mother and teacher. She enjoyed quilting, pottery, cooking, traveling and was a dedicated member of Marriage Encounter United Methodist for over 20 years. She is survived by her husband, Michael; daughters, Tamany (Darnel) Bentz and Jennifer Ruth Vinson; son, Jonathan Lee Vinson; mother, Nora Ruth McMillen; sister, Jill (Jim) Curcio; grandson Blaise Darwin Bentz; and several nieces and nephews. Jeanne is preceded in death by her father, Edward, and sister, Judy Lea McMillen (Davis). Jeanne's life will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 9, 2012 at Velda Rose United Methodist Church in Mesa, AZ. Everyone will forever remember her caring and happy nature. Memorial contributions may be made to Hopice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ. 85014. Arrangements entrusted to Tempe Mortuary.

Remembering Jean and and how much we enjoyed her playing in our Bunco group. She was such a sweet lady, and I'm sure she is missed so much by her family and friends. Prayers to her family.
