Paul Schuyler Wise

Scottsdale - Paul Wise, 99, of Scottsdale, AZ, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2019. Paul was born July 16, 1920 in Pratt, KS. Paul earned a B. A. degree from Washburn University in Kansas in 1942. He served as a Naval Aviator in the Atlantic from 1942-1945 and received his law degree from Washburn University in 1947. Paul had a distinguished career with the Alliance of American Insurers in Chicago, IL, retiring from his role as President and Chairman of the Board in 1985. In retirement, Paul was a co-founder and member of the Board of Directors of the Hospice of the North Shore (now JourneyCare), also in Chicago. He also served on the Board of Directors of Waddell & Reed (Shawnee Mission KS) and PotashCorps (Saskatoon, Canada). Being with family was what Paul enjoyed most, especially if it involved activities like hiking, camping, mountain climbing, sailing, or playing tennis and golf. He is remembered for the love, caring, and support he gave to his wives, siblings, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Paul is survived by his wife, Fran, sons, Sky and David, daughter, Betsy (Martin), step-daughter, Meg (Matlach), step-son, Dan (Cowie), seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by his first wife, Kathryn (Green) who passed away in 1975. Private family interment will be held at Pinnacle Presbyterian Church.
