Raul J. (Winnie) Peralta
Chandler - Raul J. (Winnie) Peralta, age 95, died peacefully at his daughter's home in Chandler, Arizona on June 30, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.
Raul was born on March 6, 1926, in Superior, Arizona, the son of Maria J. and Felipe (Cuni) Acosta. On June 6, 1944, he married the love of his life, Margie, and they enjoyed 67 years of wedded bliss.
Raul worked at Magma Copper Company for 40 years and made many friends at the smelter. People were drawn to his quick wit and friendly demeaner and he always looked forward to a lunchtime game of watchas (washer toss) with the fellas.
He had a passion for baseball, playing second base for the Superior Miners for several years and later becoming a diehard Arizona Diamondbacks fan.
Raul was active in retirement, enjoying the simple things in life; he loved riding horses, camping, fishing, and was an avid hunter. He enjoyed watching old western movies and reminiscing about the good ol' days. He was always up for a trip to the casino (in his typical western wear) or a game of poker with close friends and family. He was also an excellent pool player - his game of choice was carambola billiards.
Raul was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Margie; sons, Raul and Arturo Peralta; and parents. He is survived by his daughter, Mary Ann Villaverde, her husband Tony, 9 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
One of the final thoughts Raul shared was an acknowledgement that, "I lived a good life." He was feisty until the end but was looking forward to being reunited with his wife and sons, whom he missed so much. Raul will be forever loved, forever missed and in our hearts forever. We will see you again!
A memorial service will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Superior, Arizona on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at 10:00 a.m.
