To Carmen and the children, and Scott's family,
Scott coached my sons' (Max and Jayden Homack) basketball teams through the YMCA for several seasons. The boys truly loved him, and they thoroughly enjoyed having him as their coach. He was warm, compassionate and positive with the kids on the teams, and gave them nothing but encouragement.
I would watch Scott interact with his own two children at games and practices sometimes, and witnessed a man who had nothing but pure love for his children. He seemed to be such an awesome father.
Carmen, I would run into you several times at Basha's (McClintock and Southern) in the evenings when I would make my evening grocery runs. You worked in the childcare area. I truly enjoyed all of the times you and I talked when I ran into you there; you are a wonderful woman.
Scott's parents: you did a wonderful job with your son. You raised a beautiful man.
If there is anything I can do, or offer (shoulder to cry on, help with the kids), please let me know, and I will be here for all of you.
I will pray that your hearts can find some peace with Scott's death as soon as possible.

I am so heart broken over Scott's passing, especially for his wonderful family. Everyone who knew Scott loved him like family. Most of all, I will miss playing softball with him. Dear Denny,
I just started reading last Sunday's obituaries and was hoping against hope, that this "Detherage" was no
relation to you.
However, upon reading it, I knew that this wonderful young man had to be your son, a "chip off the old block."
Though I unfortunately never had the honor of meeting "Scott," I am very sad for your loss.
I know that you are, and will always be, "most proud" of your son...and rightfully so.

What an amazing father, husband, son and mentor you are. You've touched so many and changed so many for the better. At a young age of 39 i don't know anyone who has accomplished that. Carmen, Steffen, Kaylee & family,
I am so thankful for the time I had to work with Scott and got to know him. He was an amazing person who had so much pride and love for his family and friends. I feel even more blessed to have been a small part of Steffen and Kaylee's life. Scott will be truely missed by all but the lives he touched will live on forever.

Carmen what great thoughts I have of Scott from Gilbert High School. My sister Kathy and him graduated together. He was one great guy and you have two beautiful children that will carry on Scotts Legacy. They each have characteristics of their dad that will remind you everday of what a special man he was. Carmen, we met when Steffen and my son Juul went to preschool together; and little Kaylee was the cutest girl around. I have fond memories of our time waiting for the kids with the other moms, and I even have some pictures too.
