McCarty, Roger Hornsby
Roger Hornsby McCarty, a resident of San Antonio, Texas, passed away November 15, 2011, surrounded by a loving family in Paradise Valley, Arizona. Roger was born in Guthrie Center, Iowa, in 1930, the sixth child of Dale and Ella McCarty. He spent his early years farming with his father and brothers, Dale and Don. In 1955, following four years' service in the United States Navy, Roger began a career in the insurance industry as an agent with State Farm Mutual Insurance Company in Denver, Colorado. His first year brought him recognition as State Farm's Agent of the Year. Roger continued to surpass all sales goals and soon formed First Farwest Marketing Company to market an extensive range of financial products. That company became Broker's International, Ltd. From its founding, Broker's International has been guided by Roger in his role as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. Relationships have been built with the nation's leading insurance companies. Marketing training and support have been provided to agents in every state in America. Success has been beyond his early dreams. The Company's Home Office, located in Panora, Iowa, was selected as one of Iowa's Best Places to Work for four years running. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, three sisters, and his wife and mother of his children, Betty Jensen McCarty. Roger is survived by his wife, Jane Lindsey McCarty. His children are Michelle Woods (Craig), Kelly Dale McCarty, Rick Clark, Marla Martinsen and daughter-in-law Moneque Dobbs. Grandchildren are Zoe, Hannah, Elizabeth and Noah Woods; Cameron, Ryan and Taylor McCarty; Lindsey, Tyler and Tanner Clark; Tabor, Wesley, Cole and Paige Martinsen. Roger was blessed with numerous nieces, nephews, countless friends and business associates plus the dedicated team at Brokers International. An avid gold enthusiast, Roger was a member of the Camelback Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona, the Lake Panorama National Golf Club in Panora, Iowa, and the Carambola Golf and Country Club in St. Croix USVI. In 2010, he led the move to host the Broker International Iowa Open Golf Tournament at Lake Panorama and contracted tournament sponsorships for five years. He was a Master Mason in Denver, Colorado Masonic Temple. Visitation will be held from 4-8PM, Saturday, November 19 at the Twigg Funeral Home in Panora, Iowa. A Family Service will be held at 11AM on November 21 at the First United Methodist Church of Guthrie Center, Iowa, followed by a Memorial Service scheduled for 4PM at the Hope Lutheran Church of West Des Moines.
