Ronald Potell Obituary

Ronald W. Potell, 68, a resident of Sun City, Arizona passed away on June 5, 2007. Ron was born in Detroit, Michigan on August 7, 1938 to Leo and Florence Potell. He spent his formative years in Harlingen, Texas. He and his former wife Beverly (Ferrier), raised two children. After a twenty year career in the Army, including serving in the Vietnam War, he retired in 1974 with the rank of Captain. Following a move to Phoenix, Arizona he enjoyed a career in real estate and computer related endeavors. In 1979 he married Nancy (Clark) and made a home in Mesa, Arizona. Following retirement, they moved to Sun City, Arizona in 1998 where Ron, an avid golfer, worked at improving his game. A firm believer in supporting community activities, Ron was an active member of his Condo Association Board for several years. His sharp mind, quick wit, and presence in their lives will be missed by both family and friends. Ron is survived by his wife, Nancy; brother, Albert Potell of Richmond Virginia; daughter, Debra Potell of Phoenix, Arizona; son, Jeff Potell of Tempe, Arizona; and granddaughter, Valerie Potell; as well as two step-children, Jennine Wood and Katherine Henline, and their families. A viewing will be held at Regency Mortuary, 9850 W. Thunderbird Rd., Sun City, Arizona on Sunday, June 10 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Graveside services will be Monday, June 11 at 11:00 AM at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd., Phoenix, Arizona. Arrangements were entrusted to Regency Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation in Rons name to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 145447, Cincinnati, Ohio 45250-5447.
