Rosalie Poage Obituary

Poage, Rosalie
Rosalie Poage was born Rosalie Gilpin on August 1, 1920. Her parents Alice and Wheeler were farmers in Heard County, Georgia during the Great Depression. Rosalie learned to work hard and was known throughout her life as a fiercely independent, resourceful person. At times she kept her family together by working long hours, struggling to make ends meet. Married to Paul Taylor Poage in 1939, Rosalie raised a family and cared for infants and children of working mothers in her neighborhood. She was loved and admired by her many friends in Franklin, LaGrange, and Decatur, Georgia and in Scottsdale, Arizona. When circumstances looked bleak Rosalie was at her best: managing, planning, and cracking wise. She taught us to keep going. She made all of us--four daughters, eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and another generation on the way--the strong individuals that we are. We will not forget her.
