William Eckhardt Obituary

Eckhardt, William Adolpf
passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. Bill was born to Otto and Ella Eckhardt in Sutton, NE on March 3, 1931. He married Shirley Overturf on April 21, 1951 in Lincoln, NE. Bill is survived by Shirley of Fountain Hills, AZ and his sons, Bruce of Santa Fe, NM, Jeff and wife Lori of Edgar, NE, Craig of Cave Creek, David and wife Cheryle of Scottsdale, AZ, and Jay and wife Meredith, of Scottsdale, AZ; 10 grandchildren and two great grandsons; and his sisters, Ruthie Hopi of Marana, AZ and Lorene Schwab of CA. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, brother Homer and sister Claire Elnicky. Bill was a standout high school athlete, a US Air Force veteran, he was stationed in Germany during the Korean war. Bill belonged to Kiwanis, The American Legion, The Fountains Methodist Church and the Fountain Hills Chamber of Commerce. He was employed for 25 years at Mountain Bell before retiring and then worked for the Fountain Hills Directory for 20 years before again retiring in 2011. Bill enjoyed his family and traveling with his wife Shirley, playing golf and seeking out great deals at garage sales. Bill remained in close contact with his friends from his service in the US Air Force and they had a wonderful time together in many cities throughout the US where they would meet annually. Services are December 22, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at The Fountains Methodist Church.
